How I Found the Perfect Jeans
Author: Stylist at TellarDate: 2025
I used to dread shopping for jeans. All of it. The trying on, the weird waist gaps, the ankle bunching, the fits that promised to be “slim” but felt like denim tights. Not a chance! Young guys wearing ultra skinny jeans, no socks and loafers is not the look Im going for. I have my tried and tested Levi's, Diesel. but i wanted ti try something different. I cracked it in the end. After years of trial and error (and a little help from Tellar.co.uk), I finally found jeans that fit me properly—and actually make me feel good wearing them.
What Wasn’t Working
Too skinny, too low-rise, too short, too long. The problem wasn’t just the jeans—it was how differently every brand cut their denim. A size 32 in one store felt like a 30 in another. I was constantly guessing, returning, or just settling for “close enough.” Ive got shorter legs and a long torso and well i could possibly lose a couple of pounds, but otherwise in decent shape.
Then I Got Smart About Fit
I started by measuring my actual waist, hip, and inseam (shout-out to Tellar’s Measuring Guide). Then I used Tellar.co.uk to plug in my info and get exact sizing across every brand I liked. Suddenly, I wasn’t guessing anymore.
These are my picks, no spin, no bias, just honest recommendations:
What I Look for Now
Mid-rise waist: Not too high, not sliding down
Slim-straight leg: Tapered just enough but doesn’t hug my calves
Little stretch: Just enough to move but still feels like proper denim
