What Is Clothes Sizing Like at Missguided online?

Missguided generally runs small to true to size — and if I had a pound for every time I'd seen someone go up a size in their jeans and down a size in their bodysuit from the same order, I'd have retired by now. The brand has had a famously inconsistent sizing history, and whilst the relaunched Missguided (now under the Frasers Group umbrella) has tidied things up a little, it still pays to know your way around the rails before you click "add to basket."
I've worked with a lot of clients who shop Missguided — mostly women in their twenties who want trend-led, affordable pieces that actually look like the runway. And honestly? There are some brilliant finds in there. You just need to know the sizing quirks going in.
Missguided Size Conversion Guide
Missguided uses standard UK sizing, but as a general rule, size up one if you're ever in doubt — particularly for fitted styles.

Missguided also offers Petite (for 5'3" and under), Tall (for 5'7" and above), and a Plus range that runs from a UK 16 up to UK 28 in many styles. If you're buying from these sub-ranges, the width sizing is usually the same — it's the proportions and lengths that change.
Sizing by Category — What You Actually Need to Know
This is where it gets interesting. Missguided doesn't size consistently across categories, so here's my honest breakdown:
Dresses: Generally true to size in bodycon styles. Wrap dresses and smock styles can come up a touch larger — I've had clients go down a size in a floaty midi. If there's a defined waist, trust your usual size.
Jeans & Trousers: This is where Missguided has historically been the trickiest. Jeans tend to run small — sometimes by a full size. I always tell people to go up one, especially in skinny fits. Wide-leg and straight-leg styles are a little more forgiving.
Tops & Bodysuits: These can come up quite small across the bust, particularly if you're fuller-chested. Bodysuits especially — size up if you're above a C cup to avoid any awkward pulling.
Co-ord Sets: Buy the top and bottom in the size that fits your largest measurement, then take in if needed. Missguided's co-ords are often sized to fit one way or the other — rarely perfectly both at once.
Outerwear & Coats: Sizes here are more generous and tend to be true to size or slightly large. If you're in between sizes, go down.
Swimwear & Lingerie: Size up. Full stop. The stretch is limited and these pieces are cut very small.
💡 Ella's tip: When in doubt, check the reviews on the product page — Missguided shoppers are refreshingly honest about fit. More than once I've been saved from a sizing disaster by someone leaving a "runs tiny, went up two sizes" comment. Bless them.
Petite, Tall & Plus-Size Ranges
One thing Missguided genuinely does well — and has done for years — is its commitment to a broad size and height range. The Petite range is properly proportioned (not just standard pieces shortened), and the Tall range does a decent job of adding length where it matters — in the torso, sleeves and inseam, rather than just everywhere at once.
The Plus range is one of the more trend-led plus options on the high street — you're not being fobbed off with a plain shift dress when the regular range has a sequinned cut-out. That said, sizing within the plus range can still vary, so apply the same rules: size up in jeans, trust your usual size in dresses.
My Honest Stylist Take on Shopping Missguided
I'll be straight with you — Missguided is brilliant for occasion-wear, going-out looks, and those on-trend statement pieces you want to wear twice and move on from. It is not the place I'd send you for investment basics or anything that needs to last. I've seen the quality improve since the relaunch, but it's still fast fashion at its core.
What it does brilliantly: cut-out dresses, going-out tops, bold-colour tailoring, and playsuits. The trend turnaround is fast, the prices are genuinely low, and for a special occasion on a budget, it can be a real find.
Where I'd be cautious: anything that needs to hold its shape over time (tailored trousers, structured blazers), anything with a complex construction (corsets, boned dresses), and — I say this kindly — their knitwear, which tends to pill faster than I'd like.
If Missguided Doesn't Quite Work for You — Try These Instead
Whether it's the sizing, the aesthetic, or just fancying something with a bit more longevity, here are my picks across price points:
High Street Alternatives

River Island — One of the best high-street options for going-out looks with slightly better fabric quality. Sizes are consistent and the fit is reliable.
ASOS — The obvious one, but for good reason. Enormous range, filters by height and size range, and the returns policy is a lifesaver when you're size-jumping between brands.
New Look — Particularly strong on occasion dresses and co-ords. Runs true to size and often sizes up to a 22–24.
Topshop — Now online via ASOS, and still a go-to for trend-led pieces with a sharper cut than most fast fashion.
Urban Outfitters — If you want that same youthful, fashion-forward energy but with a slightly more curated edit and better fabric feel.
H&M — For the basics and transitional pieces that Missguided doesn't do as well. Good for layering essentials.
Zara — A step up in quality and construction. If you love Missguided's tailored looks, Zara's suiting is worth the extra spend.
Premium Alternatives
All Saints — For those who want the edgy, fashion-forward aesthetic with significantly better fabric and finishing. Leather-look and structured pieces are excellent.
Reiss — A brilliant step up for occasion dressing. Sizes run consistently and the cut is notably better than fast fashion.
Ted Baker — Especially strong for event dressing and going-out tops. Sizing is slightly generous, which is refreshing.
Independent & Left-Field Picks
Omnes — A London-based brand doing upcycled deadstock fabric in genuinely stunning going-out styles. Sizes UK 6–22 and the fit is precise. Completely different ethos to Missguided but scratches the same style itch in a far more sustainable way.
Kitri — A brilliant independent British brand known for print-led dresses and co-ords with a proper grown-up finish. Not cheap, but the pieces earn their price per wear ratio. Sizes UK 6–18.
