What Is Sizing Like at Adanola?

By Robin Blake — Sizing Expert Stylist & Founder of TellarDate: 2026

Always Honest, Unbiased, Unsponsored & Free Content.

Adanola runs true to size across the majority of its range — so for most pieces, order your usual size and you'll be spot on. The brand itself confirms its products are designed to fit true to size, and after styling more Adanola hauls than I care to admit, I'd back that up… with a couple of caveats worth knowing before you click "add to basket".

I first fell for Adanola the way most people do — through a single pair of leggings. A client asked me to find her a Lululemon alternative that wouldn't make her wince at the checkout, and the Ultimate Leggings turned up looking far more expensive than they were. I ordered my standard size, they fit like they'd been made for me, and I've been recommending them ever since. But I've had a fail too: I once sized down in a ribbed top thinking "it'll stretch," and spent the whole day feeling vacuum-packed. Lesson learned. Here's everything you actually need to know.

The short answer: order your usual size

Adanola's bread and butter — leggings, sports bras and joggers — fits true to size. If you're a UK 8 you're a small, a UK 12 a medium, and so on. The range runs from XXS up to XXXL, which is genuinely more inclusive than a lot of activewear labels manage.

A few things I always flag to clients:

  • Leggings are compressive and high-waisted with no front seam, so they hold you in without digging. Don't be tempted to size up — you'll lose that support.

  • Sizing isn't identical across categories. A 12 in leggings can feel like a 10 in a looser top. Bottoms and tops are cut differently, so don't assume one size fits the whole basket.

  • The fabric has proper four-way stretch, so it gives where it needs to without going see-through — yes, even mid-squat.

Where Adanola sizing catches people out

This is where the true-to-size rule needs a footnote:

  • Tops, hoodies and sweatshirts are designed oversized already. If you love that slouchy look, stick to your normal size. If you'd rather something neater, size down one.

  • Length matters. Leggings come in regular and tall. If you're over roughly 5'8" go for the tall; under 5'3" and even the regular can pool a little at the ankle.

  • Fitted tees and crop styles run snug. I size up here if I want anything other than a second-skin fit.

If you take only one thing away: measure yourself once and shop by your actual bust, waist and hip — not the number on your last label. It removes all the guesswork (more on how to do that below).

How Adanola compares — my brand recommendations

Post Image

If you love the Adanola fit but fancy a few options, here's where I'd send you, by budget.

High street

  • H&M — the Move activewear range is the best budget-friendly stand-in, with surprisingly good compression leggings for the price.

  • Uniqlo — unbeatable for AIRism base layers and clean, minimalist gym tops that sit beautifully under an Adanola set.

  • M&S — the Goodmove line is criminally underrated: squat-proof leggings and proper size inclusivity.

  • Gap — GapFit leggings are soft, sturdy and cut generously, ideal if you find Adanola too compressive.

  • New Look — great for trend-led, low-commitment activewear when you want a fun colour without the spend.

  • Superdry — sportier, more technical pieces with a younger, streetwear lean.

  • Gymshark — the obvious British rival; more performance-focused and a touch more sculpting than Adanola.

Premium

  • Sweaty Betty — the gold standard for fit and longevity; the Power leggings are an investment that genuinely lasts years.

  • Lululemon — the brand Adanola is endlessly compared to; buttery Align leggings and faultless construction.

  • Alo Yoga — for that elevated, studio-to-street aesthetic with serious influencer pull.

Luxury / designer

  • Toteme — Scandi minimalism at its finest; elevated leisurewear and knit basics that quietly cost a fortune.

  • Max Mara — the Leisure line brings real designer polish to off-duty dressing.

Two left-field independents I rate

  • TALA — founded by Grace Beverley, sculpting sustainable activewear with a cult following and a near-identical price point to Adanola.

  • Girlfriend Collective — recycled fabrics, brilliant size inclusivity, and a compressive fit that fans of Adanola's leggings will adore.

Stop guessing your size — try Tellar

Here's the honest truth: the reason Adanola sizing trips people up isn't Adanola — it's that we all shop by the number on our last pair of jeans rather than our actual measurements. That's exactly the problem I built Tellar to fix.
