What Is Sizing Like at Aire? Your Complete Fit Guide

Aire generally runs true to size, but with meaningful variation across garment types — tailored pieces fit closely and structured, while knits and softer fabrications offer more flexibility and room to breathe.

I'll be honest: the first time I bought from Aire, I didn't do my homework and picked up a blazer in my usual size. It was stunning — absolutely the kind of clean, architectural tailoring you fall a little bit in love with — but it was snug through the shoulders in a way that was just enough to put me off wearing it as often as I wanted. A size up would have been perfect. Since then, I've approached the brand with a bit more precision, and the results have been really rewarding. Aire is genuinely one of those labels where getting the fit right makes the whole thing sing.

So let's break it all down properly, because this isn't a brand where you can just grab your usual number and hope for the best.

Aire Sizing at a Glance: UK, EU & US Conversion

Aire uses standard European sizing across most of its pieces.

One important note: Aire doesn't follow a vanity sizing model. That means the numbers on the label genuinely reflect the garment's measurements — which is actually a good thing, but it does mean trusting your tape measure over habit.

Tailored Pieces: Blazers & Trousers

This is where you need to pay the closest attention. Aire's tailored blazers are structured, precise, and very much designed with a specific silhouette in mind. Most styles sit true to size, but they are cut to fit — not to drape — so any extra room at the bust, shoulders or hips and you'll notice it immediately.

  • If you're between sizes, size up. You can always take in a blazer; you can't undo a shoulder seam that pulls.

  • Some drops include intentionally boxy, oversized silhouettes — these are the exception and will be described as such in the product listing. For those, your usual size or even down is fine.

  • Tailored trousers fit closely through the waist and hips. If you carry more volume in the hips or thighs than your waist, always size to the hip and consider a tailor for the waist. It's worth it.

Dresses & Jumpsuits

Structured dresses and jumpsuits follow a similar logic — they're fitted through the torso, and if your bust or hips are proportionally larger than your waist, sizing up is usually the smarter call. The last thing you want is to be pulling a beautifully cut dress down every five minutes because the waist fits but there's nowhere for anything else to go.

Fluid styles — wrap cuts, bias-cut dresses, anything in a soft viscose or silk-feel fabric — are far more forgiving. These tend to fall beautifully on a range of body shapes and your usual size should work well.

Knitwear

Aire's knitwear is where I genuinely don't worry too much. The fine knit pieces — those clean, elevated styles that look effortless tucked into tailored trousers or layered under a coat — have enough natural stretch and give to accommodate a little variation either way. True to size works well here; if anything, going up gives you a slightly more relaxed, less sculpted fit if that's what you're after.

Heavier knit coats and shearling pieces tend to be cut with some ease already factored in, so you're unlikely to run into trouble. Just think about your layering situation underneath — if you're planning to wear a thick jumper beneath, worth trying the next size up.

Leather & Statement Pieces

Aire's leather collection is genuinely something special — clean Italian leather pieces with a minimal, modern finish. These run true to size but with very little stretch, so precision matters. Measure your bust and waist carefully before ordering online. A leather jacket that's even slightly tight across the shoulders is uncomfortable and, frankly, looks wrong.

For the Swarovski-adorned or embellished statement pieces, they tend to be designed with enough structure to carry the detail without clinging — your usual size should be absolutely fine.

My Top Styling Tips for Getting the Best From Aire

  • Lean into the minimalism — Aire looks best when it's doing the heavy lifting. Keep the rest of your look quiet. The brand rewards restraint.

  • Tailored trousers + fine knit tucked in + structured blazer is the formula that never fails. It's the kind of outfit people ask about.

  • Don't be afraid of the oversized drops — they're not shapeless, they're considered. A slightly boxy blazer over slim tailored trousers is chef's kiss.

  • If you're petite, the cropped tailored styles work especially well. Many of the structured trousers also work beautifully at a cropped length on shorter frames.

  • Curvier bust or hips? Always size to your largest measurement in structured pieces, then use a belt or tailoring to define the waist. The results are genuinely worth it.

Where to Shop If You Love the Aire Aesthetic

Aire occupies a lovely space — elevated minimalism at a premium price point. If you love the aesthetic but want to explore alternatives at different budgets, here's where I'd look:

High Street & Contemporary:

  • Whistles — consistently one of the best high street options for clean, modern tailoring with a grown-up feel. Blazers especially.

  • Me&Em — excellent quality for the price, with a similar minimalist sensibility and really reliable sizing. A firm personal favourite.

  • Massimo Dutti — structured tailoring and beautifully made basics in muted, considered palettes. Often overlooked but very much worth your time.

  • Reiss — great for occasion tailoring; the blazers and shift dresses in particular have that same precise, form-focused cut.

  • All Saints — if you want the elevated leather and dark minimalism of Aire at a more accessible price, All Saints delivers it consistently.

  • Mint Velvet — excellent for relaxed, effortless style with premium fabric feel. Particularly good for knitwear and fluid pieces.

  • Hobbs — strong tailoring heritage and a reliable fit across blazers, trousers and structured dresses. Sizing tends to be consistent and generous enough to be forgiving.

Premium & Independent:

  • Kitri Studio — a brilliant London independent label with beautiful structured pieces and considered proportions. Great fit, honest sizing, and genuinely original design. I've worn their pieces to events and been asked about them every single time.

  • Aligne — a UK-based sustainable label that does understated minimalism really well. Premium fabrics, thoughtful construction, and sizing that's clean and reliable.

Luxury & Designer:

  • Max Mara — the gold standard for elevated minimalism and structured tailoring. If Aire's aesthetic speaks to you, Max Mara is its spiritual big sister. Investment pieces that outlast trends by decades.

  • Claudie Pierlot — French label with beautiful structure and proportions. A step up in price but the quality and fit justify it entirely.
