What Is Sizing Like at Armani?

Emporio Armani — younger, sharper, noticeably slimmer. Knitwear and shirts run snug, and the trousers are cut for a lean leg. This is where most people get caught out.
Armani Exchange (A|X) — the casual, high-street-priced line. Closer to standard S/M/L sizing, but still on the fitted side, especially the tees and polos.
EA7 — the sportswear arm. Sizes more like activewear; fine for a relaxed look, snug if you want a slim training fit.

The bits that catch people out

Shirts: tapered through the body. If you've got a swimmer's back or broad shoulders, the chest fits but the hem pulls. Size up or look for a "regular" cut.
Knitwear: Emporio jumpers in particular are cut close and short in the body. Lovely under a jacket, less forgiving on its own.
Trousers & chinos: a slim, slightly cropped leg is the house default. Order your true waist — they don't tend to run big.
Tailoring: the jackets are the standout buy, but they're built for a defined waist. Always try the button done up and reach forward — if it pulls across the back, go up.

How to actually style it

Armani is at its best when you let the cut do the talking and keep everything else quiet. My standard play for a client buying their first Armani piece is a navy or charcoal Emporio blazer over a fine-gauge knit and dark, slim trousers — no tie, leather loafers, done. It reads expensive without trying. The mistake I see is people pairing those sharp Italian lines with baggy, slouchy basics underneath, which kills the whole silhouette. Match slim with slim, or one clean relaxed layer at most.

BOSS — the natural step between high street and Armani. Tailoring is similarly trim but offers more "regular" cuts, so easier if Armani's slim line defeats you.
Canali — proper Italian tailoring with a slightly more forgiving, classic cut than Armani. Worth it if you love the Milanese look but need room through the chest.
