What Is Sizing Like at Beyond Yoga? A Stylist's Honest Guide

Beyond Yoga sizes true to size overall — but with a few fabric-specific exceptions worth knowing before you spend upwards of £90 on a pair of leggings. I'll break it all down by garment so you can shop with confidence, not hope.
I first tried Beyond Yoga a few years ago after seeing the Spacedye leggings everywhere on Instagram. I ordered my usual size, they arrived, and I genuinely stood in my kitchen for a moment just stroking the fabric. That soft, almost buttery feel is very real — and yes, I've now got more pairs than I care to admit. But I've also made a sizing mistake along the way (more on that below), which is exactly why a proper sizing breakdown matters.
Does Beyond Yoga Run True to Size?
The short answer is yes — the majority of Beyond Yoga pieces fit true to size. The brand runs from XXS through to 4X, which is a genuinely impressive range for a premium activewear label. Most customers find their usual size works well, and the brand's own size guide recommends going by your bust measurement if your bust and waist fall into different size brackets.
That said, several reviewers — and my own experience — suggest the fit sits ever so slightly on the snug side. It's not dramatic enough to make you feel you must size up, but if you're between two sizes, I'd always nudge up rather than down. You'll get a better fit, and it's kinder to the fabric long-term.
Ella's Honest Tip: I bought my usual XS in the Dusted Spacedye leggings and immediately regretted it. The metallic coating on that style compresses the fabric noticeably — I looked like I'd been shrink-wrapped. Sized up to S and they were perfect. If you're ordering the Dusted range specifically, always go up one size.

Sizing by Garment — The Key Differences
Beyond Yoga makes more than just leggings, and the sizing logic does shift a little depending on what you're buying.
Leggings (Spacedye & standard styles): True to size. The elastic-free waistband sits comfortably above the navel and doesn't dig — one of my favourite things about this brand, honestly. The high-waist styles have a 5-inch waistband that stays put during movement without any rolling.
Dusted (metallic) leggings: Size up by one. The metallic coating tightens the fabric's stretch, so your usual size will feel more compressed than expected. This is the one consistent exception across customer reviews.
Sports bras & bralettes: Go by your bust measurement. Beyond Yoga's bras tend to offer light-to-medium support rather than full encapsulation, so they're brilliant for yoga and pilates but less suited to high-impact running. If you're between band sizes, go up.
Tank tops & cropped tops: True to size, with a slightly relaxed fit on most styles. The built-in shelf bras are on the lighter support side — fine for low-intensity workouts or studio-to-street dressing, but I'd wear a separate bra underneath for anything more active.
Shorts & bike shorts: True to size. The same gentle compression feel as the leggings — very wearable, not restrictive. The 28-inch inseam on full-length styles works beautifully at ankle length for average UK heights (5'4"–5'7"), and hits a flattering cropped midi for anyone taller.
What's the Fabric Actually Like?
Beyond Yoga's signature Spacedye fabric is genuinely one of the softest performance fabrics I've come across — it's frequently compared to Lululemon's Align fabric, and that comparison is fair. It's lightweight with gentle compression rather than a firm hold, which makes it brilliant for yoga, pilates, and all-day wear, but less suitable if you prefer a seriously sculpting, high-compression legging.
The fabric is moisture-wicking and holds up well in the wash (cold cycle, hang to dry — always). After years of use, I've found the Spacedye maintains its colour and structure far better than most activewear at this price point. It's one of those buys that genuinely justifies the spend.
One note on opacity: the brand doesn't make a sweeping squat-proof guarantee across every colourway, and rightly so. Darker core shades are reliably opaque. Lighter pastels and seasonal washes are worth more caution — when in doubt, the darker options are the safer bet.
How Does Beyond Yoga Compare to Other Brands for Sizing?

If you're used to Lululemon, Beyond Yoga fits similarly true to size — though the feel is softer and less compressive than Align. If you're coming from Gymshark, you might find Beyond Yoga slightly more generous in the waist. And compared to standard UK high street activewear sizing (think M&S or Next sportswear), Beyond Yoga's fit is more consistent and better calibrated to actual measurements.
Who Is Beyond Yoga Best For?
Anyone who wants a buttery-soft, comfortable legging that doubles as daywear
Yoga, pilates, barre, and low-to-moderate intensity workouts
Those who prefer a relaxed waistband without elastic digging
People who want inclusive sizing — the XXS to 4X range is genuinely one of the best in premium activewear
Athleisure dressers who want studio-to-street versatility without looking overly gym-coded
Alternatives to Beyond Yoga — By Budget
If Beyond Yoga's price point (£80–£120 for leggings) gives you pause, here are honest alternatives at every level — chosen for genuine aesthetic and quality similarity, not just convenience.
High Street Options:
Sweaty Betty — The closest UK equivalent in terms of quality and studio aesthetic. Their Power leggings are genuinely brilliant and sizing is similarly true-to-size. A must-try if you haven't already.
Lululemon — Premium price but the Align legging is the most direct competitor to Beyond Yoga's Spacedye for that soft, worn-all-day feel. Sizing runs true to size, though the fit is slightly more sculpting.
Gymshark — Excellent for the price, especially their Flex and Vital ranges. Tends to run slightly small, so size up if you're between sizes.
Anthropologie — Stocks some excellent activewear-adjacent pieces and athleisure sets that give a similar elevated feel. Worth browsing for lounge-to-studio dressing.
ASOS — A useful destination for affordable Spacedye-style alternatives. Sizing varies wildly by brand so always check individual size guides.
Urban Outfitters — Has quietly become a decent source for aesthetic athleisure, especially for shorter crop tops and colourblock sets. Sizing generally runs true.
M&S — Their Good Move activewear range is excellent value and far better quality than the price suggests. Sizing runs consistently to UK standard.
Independent Picks:
Adanola — A brilliant UK-founded brand that has earned its cult following entirely on merit. Their Ultimate leggings hit that same buttery-soft, flattering note as Beyond Yoga at a significantly lower price. Sizes true to size.
Nagnata — An Australian brand stocked by select UK retailers. Beautiful textured knit activewear with a fashion-forward edge that goes far beyond the gym. Sizes run true, with a more relaxed, directional aesthetic.
Premium Options:
Varley — Brilliant for that polished activewear-meets-lifestyle dressing look. Comparable quality to Beyond Yoga with slightly more structure.
Alo Yoga — American brand with a very strong UK following. More compressive than Beyond Yoga but similarly elevated aesthetic. Sizes true to size.
Luxury/Designer:
Heroine Sport — For when activewear needs to work as hard aesthetically as it does physically. Elevated fabrics, thoughtful construction, and a seriously chic edge.
Norma Kamali — An icon in body-conscious design. Her activewear pieces sit in luxury territory and are worth every penny for fit and longevity.
