What Is Sizing Like at Daska?

Daska sizes run true to standard UK sizing across most of their range, so if you're a UK 10 at Marks & Spencer or Phase Eight, you'll almost certainly reach for the same size here — but there are a handful of garment-specific nuances worth knowing before you click "add to basket."
I'll be honest — I'd been hearing the Daska name for a while before I actually stopped to look properly. It kept popping up on my explore feed and I kept scrolling past, assuming it was another drop-shipping brand riding the modest fashion wave. I was wrong. Founded in London in 2021 by Maryam Khan, Daska fills a genuine gap: beautifully constructed, design-led pieces for women who want to dress with full coverage and still look absolutely stunning. Vogue, Bazaar UK and Cosmopolitan have all featured the brand — and once I actually tried a dress, I understood why.
How Does Daska's Sizing Work Overall?
Daska uses a clean XS–XL sizing system that maps closely to standard UK sizing. The brand designs with a relaxed, modest silhouette in mind — which means pieces are cut with a little more ease through the torso and sleeve than you'd find at, say, a fast-fashion contemporary brand. That's actually great news if you're between sizes, because that natural ease often means a well-proportioned fit without the anxiety of going up.
Sizing runs from XS through to XL, covering a wide range of UK sizes in each band
The brand generally runs true to size — no need to size up as a rule
Pieces are designed for modest, relaxed coverage, so silhouettes have comfortable ease built in
If you're right in between two sizes, the general guidance is to size up — especially in dresses and co-ords
Ella's tip: Daska's size guide is actually one of the more detailed ones I've come across from an independent brand — they break it down by garment type (blouses, dresses, co-ords) so it's worth checking the specific measurements for whatever you're buying rather than relying solely on your usual letter size.
Daska Dresses — Sizing & Fit
Dresses are Daska's hero category — and honestly, it shows. The maxi silhouettes are gorgeous: think fluid fabrics, high necklines, long sleeves, and those signature zip details that run down the bodice and give you a surprising amount of fit flexibility. On sizing, the dresses tend to be true to size, but bear the following in mind:
The bodice is cut generously — if you're fuller in the bust, you may find your standard size works well without feeling tight
The zip detailing on many styles means you can adjust the neckline slightly, which adds a little fit flexibility at the chest
Length-wise, maxis are designed for a standard height of around 5'5"–5'7" — petite wearers may want to consider hemming, or opt for the midi styles
If you carry more volume through the hips, size up — the waist on fitted dress styles can be snug on a curvier frame
I wore the Capella Dress to a dinner last autumn — Abstract print, long sleeves, beautifully draped. I went for my usual size and the fit was spot on. The fabric had enough weight to feel luxurious but wasn't stiff — it moved beautifully. The only note: if you're on the taller side, the floor-length silhouette sits just above the ankle, which on me (5'8") worked perfectly, but on someone shorter it might sit more mid-calf.
Daska Co-Ords — Sizing & Fit
The co-ord sets at Daska are a brilliant option if you want a polished, put-together look without the effort. These typically include wide-leg or straight-leg trousers paired with a longline jacket or blazer. A few things to note on sizing:
The trousers run true to size and are generously cut — wide-leg styles especially have a lovely drape
The blazer component often runs slightly boxier — if you prefer a more fitted silhouette through the shoulder, size down; if you love an oversized vibe, your true size is perfect
Buying the set as a co-ord means both pieces are sized together — if you're significantly different between your top and bottom half, it's worth contacting Daska directly, as they sometimes sell the pieces separately
Daska Blouses & Tops — Sizing & Fit
Tops and blouses at Daska are designed with full-length sleeves and a relaxed body line — they're not cropped, not fitted, and definitely not designed to show a lot of skin. The cut is comfortable and easy. On sizing:
Blouses are true to size — the shoulder seam sits where it should and sleeves are a proper full length
If you're broader across the back or shoulders, size up — the cut doesn't have a lot of stretch and back width can be the deciding factor
Paired with the wide-leg trousers from their co-ord range, a blouse in your usual size gives a beautifully relaxed, elegant silhouette
Sustainability & Fabric — Worth Knowing

One thing that genuinely impressed me about Daska is their sustainability commitment. Around 67% of their fabrics come from repurposed materials, and all packaging is recyclable. As someone who talks about fashion constantly, I find it genuinely refreshing when a brand this design-led is also taking responsibility for how it operates. The fabric quality is noticeably good — particularly the woven pieces, which have real weight and drape.
High Street Alternatives for a Similar Aesthetic
Daska is brilliant, but it's a relatively small range — so if you're after more options in a similar vein (relaxed elegance, modest proportions, polished finishes), these are my picks:
Phase Eight — absolutely brilliant for elegant occasion dresses with full coverage. Their maxi gowns rival anything at twice the price and the sizing is consistent and generous.
Hobbs — sophisticated tailoring with a modest, polished feel. Great for workwear and occasions. Their shift dresses and trouser suits are always well-cut.
Monsoon — a go-to for printed maxi dresses and occasion pieces. Beautiful fabrics, rich colours, and relaxed silhouettes that align well with Daska's aesthetic.
Whistles — understated, chic, and consistently well made. Their tailored trousers and blouses are particularly good if you want the co-ord look at a slightly lower price point.
Me&Em — exceptional quality on the high street, with a focus on relaxed, considered pieces. Their longline blazers and fluid trousers are excellent dupes for the Daska co-ord look.
Mint Velvet — relaxed luxe dressing that has real crossover with Daska's vibe. Their maxi dresses in particular are consistently good — fluid fabrics, flattering lengths, easy sizing.
Reiss — if you want the tailored co-ord element without going full modest fashion, Reiss delivers beautifully constructed separates that mix and match effortlessly.
White Stuff — more relaxed and casual than Daska but brilliant for easy-wear printed maxi dresses with proper sleeve coverage and relaxed silhouettes.
Two Independent Brands Worth Discovering
Alongside the high street, here are two under-the-radar brands I think any Daska fan should know:
Nazz Collection — a UK-based independent modest fashion brand producing beautiful occasion wear with a strong editorial eye. Their gowns and maxi dresses are genuinely stunning and sizing is consistent and accurate. A real hidden gem.
Lilysilk — not strictly a modest fashion brand, but their pure silk blouses, maxi skirts and wide-leg trousers are magnificent for building an elegant, covered-up wardrobe. The quality is extraordinary for the price point and sizing runs very true.
Premium & Luxury Alternatives
If you're ready to invest a little more in your modest wardrobe, these are the names I'd point you towards:
Ghost — dreamy, fluid dresses in satin-back crepe and viscose. The relaxed silhouettes are effortless and they have a gorgeous range of full-coverage occasion pieces.
Rixo — beautiful print dresses with real vintage-inspired character. Sizes true to UK sizing and the quality is exceptional for a contemporary premium brand.
Self-Portrait — for truly elevated occasion dressing, Self-Portrait delivers consistently beautiful pieces with refined modest proportions. The lace and crepe dresses are magnificent and well worth the investment.
