Diesel women’s clothing runs small and snug across the board, so for most pieces – and especially the denim – I’d tell you to size up by one from your usual UK size, and occasionally by two. That’s the headline answer, but Diesel is one of those brands where “size up” is only half the story. The fabric, the wash and the specific cut all pull the fit in different directions, and after years of dressing clients in Italian denim I’ve learned that two pairs labelled the same number can fit like completely different jeans. So, Do Diesel Jeans Really Run Small?

Mostly yes – but the amount it runs small depends almost entirely on the stretch content. This is the bit nobody tells you, and it’s where most people come unstuck:

Rigid (non-stretch) styles run the smallest. There’s no give in the waistband, so the size on the tag is genuinely all you get. These are the ones to size up in.
Stretch and power-stretch styles sit much closer to true-to-size and will relax slightly with wear, so your normal size often works.
The newer relaxed, straight and baggy cuts are far more forgiving than Diesel’s old low-rise skinnies ever were – some even run roomy in the waist.

A quick confession from my own wardrobe: years ago I bought a pair of rigid Diesel straight-legs in my “normal” premium-denim size because I refused to believe the size-up advice. My styling rule: buy Diesel for the waist measurement and accept that the rest is part of the look. Diesel denim is cut for attitude, not for blending in.

T-shirts, shirts and especially their cropped or boxy jackets often come up small, so I’d size up if you’re between sizes or want any layering room. How to Nail Your Diesel Size First Time

Check the fabric content before anything else – rigid means size up, stretch means stay put.
Shop by your body measurements, not the number you usually buy.
If you’re between sizes in a rigid style, always take the larger.
Read the cut name – a “relaxed” in your true size will feel completely different to a rigid “skinny.”
