What Is Sizing Like at Emory Park?

Emory Park uses US sizing, which means UK shoppers need to size up from their usual UK label — as a rule of thumb, American sizes run smaller than ours, so it's worth taking your measurements before you order rather than going on instinct. The brand ranges from XS through to XXL and, on the whole, fits true to its own US sizing — but the cut genuinely varies by garment type, so knowing what to expect before you click buy makes a real difference.

I'll be honest — I got it wrong the first time. I spotted one of their printed midi dresses on ASOS, thought I had it figured out, ordered my usual instinct, and it arrived looking more like a very ambitious crop top. Very chic for someone five inches taller, I'm sure — but not quite the floaty, occasion-ready moment I had in mind. The brand's downtown Los Angeles DNA is genuinely beautiful and once I cracked the sizing, I was completely sold. It just takes one order to learn the lesson.

The Emory Park Aesthetic — What You're Actually Buying Into

Emory Park was founded in Los Angeles' fashion district and the city's energy runs through every piece — in the best possible way. Think 70s-inspired wide-leg trousers, crochet tops, oversized knit cardigans, floaty printed dresses, and leather-trimmed bombers. It's that effortlessly cool, slightly bohemian, contemporary American look that feels fresh every single season without trying too hard. In the UK, the brand is most easily shopped through ASOS, which makes returns straightforward and means you can see customer fit feedback before you commit. Price-wise, it sits comfortably in the affordable-to-mid-range bracket — which, frankly, makes it even more satisfying when you get the sizing right.

How Does Emory Park Sizing Work in Practice?

The most important thing you can do before ordering is grab a tape measure. Taking your bust, waist, and hip measurements and comparing them against Emory Park's own size chart is the single most reliable way to get it right — far more reliable than guessing by US label or trying to translate from memory. The difference between a great fit and a return is often just a centimetre or two.

Their dresses tend to be cut with a fitted, defined bodice — which looks stunning, but if you're a D cup or above I'd consistently recommend sizing up, particularly on their wrap styles and midi cuts with a cinched waist. Their tops and blouses are considerably more forgiving. The crochet styles and oversized knits are designed with generous proportions, so these tend to work well at your standard size. On their crop tops — the fit is intentionally snug, that's the whole point of the silhouette — so if you'd prefer a slightly more relaxed look, go one up without hesitation.

The wide-leg trousers are, in my view, where Emory Park is genuinely at its best. The cut through the hip and thigh is usually excellent, with enough volume that they work beautifully across a range of body shapes. If you have a more pronounced hip-to-waist difference, it's worth sizing to your hips and simply having the waistband taken in — it's a very easy alteration. Their knitwear and outerwear run intentionally oversized, which is very much part of the brand's aesthetic. Don't be alarmed by how things look on the hanger — stick to your standard converted size and lean into the volume.

My Honest Fit Verdict

Emory Park is a brand I'd recommend shopping with your measurements in hand, especially for the first couple of orders, until you've found your size in their different categories. Once you know that, the brand is actually reassuringly consistent. What I keep coming back to is the quality — the fabric on their printed dresses and knits is genuinely impressive for the price, and the way their pieces are cut makes everything look considerably more expensive than it is. The only consistent advice I'd give: if you're between sizes, always go up. Their US sizing doesn't leave much wiggle room in the bodice or through structured seams.

High Street Alternatives With a Similar Vibe

That LA boho-meets-contemporary aesthetic is one of the most wearable looks going, and the high street does it very well — with the added advantage of UK sizing and easy returns. Here's where I'd shop:

  • ASOS — Beyond stocking Emory Park itself, ASOS's own label nails all of these silhouettes — wide-leg trousers, crochet co-ords, printed midis — in UK sizing at brilliant prices. Always worth checking both alongside each other.

  • Urban Outfitters — Probably the closest aesthetic match to Emory Park on the UK high street. Vintage-inspired prints, relaxed knitwear, wide-leg denim — they do the downtown-LA look with real conviction and their sizing is reliably consistent.

  • Anthropologie — For the more romantic, feminine end of the Emory Park world. Beautifully detailed blouses, flowing floral midis, boho-luxe separates. Slightly higher price point but the quality is exceptional and the aesthetic is pitch perfect.

  • Mango — Brilliant for the tailored, continental take on wide-leg trousers and easy suiting. Sizing is reliable, quality punches above the price, and their autumn prints are always fantastic.

  • Whistles — A more polished, grown-up British interpretation of the same relaxed-but-considered dressing Emory Park does so well. Great for investment pieces in the same silhouette family.

  • All Saints — For the edgier, leather-adjacent moments — the bombers, the sleek wide-leg trousers, the understated cool. All Saints is the natural UK equivalent for this side of the brand and the quality is outstanding.

  • Abercrombie & Fitch — Abercrombie has had one of the best-kept glow-ups in fashion over the last few years. Their contemporary dresses, tailored wide-leg trousers, and denim are genuinely excellent, with that same American-contemporary energy as Emory Park.

  • Topshop — Still one of the best high street destinations for fashion-forward printed dresses and the kind of trend-led separates that sit right in Emory Park's lane. Great value and sizing tends to be straightforward.

For something more independent and genuinely off the beaten track — two brands I keep recommending for this aesthetic: Aspiga, a brilliant British sustainable label with a coastal-boho personality, exceptional printed dresses, and relaxed separates that feel considered and fresh season after season. And Rowie The Label, an Australian brand with a loyal UK following that does floaty, feminine, beautifully printed pieces with real artisan quality. Both are a cut above the average independent find.

Premium & Designer Alternatives

If the Emory Park look has genuinely captured your imagination and you want to invest at a higher level, here's where I'd put my money:

  • Me&Em — Premium British brand with exceptional wide-leg trousers and relaxed tailoring. The quality is genuinely outstanding, sizing is cut beautifully for UK bodies, and the brand has that same effortless-but-polished quality Emory Park aspires to.

  • Claudie Pierlot — The Parisian answer to feminine, boho-luxe dressing. Their printed midi dresses and silk blouses are simply beautiful — a serious investment, but one you'll wear on repeat for years.

  • Mint Velvet — A wonderful mid-premium British option that does relaxed, wearable pieces with a real fashion edge. Their knitwear is particularly strong and sizing is very true to UK standards.

  • Max Mara — For the ultimate oversized coat moment that Emory Park's outerwear aspires to. Nobody does generous, luxurious volume like Max Mara. An investment, but genuinely a forever piece.
