What Is Sizing Like at In The Style? An Honest Guide

In The Style sizing runs small to true to size — a UK 10 will generally fit a UK 10, but if you're between sizes or have curves, sizing up is almost always the right call. I've ordered from them many times, and the one rule I've never broken twice is ignoring that advice.

In The Style is a Manchester-born fast-fashion brand best known for its celeb collab drops, bold prints, and genuinely inclusive size range — they run from a UK 4 right up to a UK 26 in most lines. The price point is accessible, the turnaround from trend to product is fast, and the brand has a real personality. But (and it's a notable but) their sizing can be inconsistent, and knowing what to expect before you order saves a lot of faff with returns.

How In The Style Sizes Up — The Honest Version

The general consensus — backed up by thousands of customer reviews and my own wardrobe mishaps — is that In The Style cuts slim. Not dramatically small, but enough to matter. Their jersey dresses and bandage-style pieces in particular come up tight across the bust and hips. If you're a 12 but carry your weight on your hips, order a 14. You can always tie a waistband or add a belt — you can't undo a zip that won't close.

  • Dresses: Tend to run small, especially bodycon styles. Size up at least one.

  • Tops & blouses: Generally true to size, but if you're fuller on the bust, size up.

  • Jeans & trousers: These are reasonably consistent — stick to your usual size, but check the rise. Their low-rise styles are genuinely low.

  • Co-ord sets: These are a particular weak point for inconsistency. The top and bottom can feel like different brands. I'd recommend sizing up on the bottoms.

  • Knitwear: More forgiving, true to size or slightly generous.

In The Style's Curve Range — Worth Knowing

One thing I genuinely respect about In The Style is how they approach their curve range. Rather than retrofitting their standard designs, a lot of their curve pieces are specifically designed for a fuller figure — so the proportions are actually right. The curve range runs from a 16 to a 26 and has its own dedicated drops. If you're shopping the curve range specifically, sizing tends to be more consistent than their standard line.

That said, I've heard from quite a few women that even within the curve range, the waist-to-hip ratio doesn't always work for everyone — particularly for pear shapes. Again: sizing up in dresses and skirts never hurts.

Celebrity Collab Sizing — A Word of Warning

In The Style has had some seriously fun collabs over the years — Billie Faiers, Jac Jossa, Gemma Collins, and more. Each collection is designed in partnership with the celeb, which means the sizing philosophy can vary slightly from collab to collab. I've noticed the Gemma Collins range tends to be better proportioned for curvier figures, while some of the younger celeb drops skew more petite-friendly. Check the specific reviews for each collab before ordering — this isn't me being fussy, it's genuinely useful intel.

A Quick Fail of Mine (So You Don't Repeat It)

I ordered a co-ord set in my usual size — a printed wide-leg trouser with a matching crop top — for a summer event. The top fit perfectly. The trousers? I could barely get them over my knees. I had to wear it as a set with an entirely different pair of trousers. Not the vibe. Lesson learnt: always check co-ord reviews individually, not just the collection.

Tips for Getting Your Size Right at In The Style

Post Image

  • Use their on-site size guide — it's fairly detailed with actual cm measurements.

  • Read customer reviews filtered by your height and dress size — shoppers are very candid.

  • For occasion dresses, always size up one.

  • If you're between sizes, go up for bodycon, true to size for relaxed/oversized cuts.

  • Their return policy is straightforward — but sizing up from the start saves the faff.

High Street Alternatives to In The Style

If you love In The Style's energy but want something with more sizing consistency, or you're after a slightly elevated version of the same kind of look, these brands are worth knowing:

  • River Island — One of the best on the high street for bold, fashion-forward pieces. Sizing is more reliable than In The Style, and they do a brilliant curve range too.

  • ASOS — The obvious go-to for sheer breadth of choice. Their own-label ASOS Design range is good value and sizes up well — plus you can filter by customer height and body shape reviews.

  • New Look — Don't sleep on New Look. They've significantly improved their offer and their curve range is excellent. Sizing is fairly consistent and true to size.

  • Topshop — Now online-only but still a solid option for trend-driven pieces. Their dresses in particular are well-cut.

  • Mango — If you want something a step up in quality from fast fashion, Mango delivers trend-led pieces with better fabric quality and more consistent sizing. They run slightly small, so size up one if in doubt.

  • H&M — Their trend edits are surprisingly good, and they've improved their size range considerably. Best for basics and printed dresses.

  • Phase Eight — For occasion wear, Phase Eight is a go-to. Sizes run true to size, the cut is flattering, and the quality is noticeably better than fast fashion at a mid-range price point.

  • Warehouse — A great middle-ground brand for occasion pieces and everyday wear. Sizing is consistent and they do a good range of body shapes.

Premium & Independent Picks Worth Exploring

If your budget stretches a little further, or you fancy two left-field brands that aren't on everyone's radar yet:

  • Reiss — For a more polished, elevated take on statement dressing. Their sizing is spot on and the quality is a genuine step up. The kind of piece you wear five times a season, not once.

  • Ghost London — An independent British brand beloved for their satin slip dresses and relaxed, floaty cuts. They run true to size and their prints have real personality without the fast-fashion feel. A brilliant discovery if you haven't found them yet.
