What Is Sizing Like at JJ Rebel?

Always Honest, Unbiased, Unsponsored & Free Content.

JJ Rebel runs pretty true to size, but with a young, European cut that leans slim-to-regular through the chest and shoulders. If you're used to a roomy high-street fit, one size up is often the safer shout. It's the younger, cheaper sibling of Jack & Jones, so the sizing logic is very similar — modern, casual and built for lads who want an easy off-duty look without the guesswork.

How JJ Rebel actually fits

JJ Rebel is a diffusion line rather than a brand with one strict, published size chart, so the fit shifts a little depending on the garment and the fit name on the label. Here's what I tell clients before they add to basket:

  • Tops (tees, shirts, knitwear): alpha sizing, XS through 2XL. The cut is modern and slightly slim through the chest, so broader or gym-built blokes usually want to size up. A lot of the tees and jumpers are designed with a boxier, slightly cropped modern length — great tucked or worn loose, less so if you like proper coverage.

  • Jeans and chinos: waist × leg (W/L) sizing, e.g. W32 L32. The waist is genuinely true to size — take your normal number. Leg length runs standard at L32, so anyone over about 6ft should check for an L34.

  • Watch the fit name: the same brand does slim, relaxed, loose and baggy cuts. A "baggy" W32 and a "slim" W32 fit worlds apart, so read the fit, not just the number.

  • Shorts: often cross-labelled (a size L roughly equals a W34), so go by your waist measurement rather than the letter.

A quick word from experience

I'll be honest — the first JJ Rebel piece I ordered was a "relaxed" chino in my usual W32, and it turned up noticeably slouchier than I expected. Not wrong, just a bolder silhouette than the photo suggested. Lesson relearned: with this brand the fit name does more work than the waist number. On the flip side, a slim tee I ordered a size up in has become a genuine rotation staple — proof that one size up on the tops is rarely a mistake here.

How to style it

Post Image

JJ Rebel sits firmly in the easy, everyday casual lane, so play to that. Keep the silhouette considered rather than sloppy:

  • Pair a straight or slim chino with a plain heavyweight tee and clean white trainers for a foolproof off-duty look.

  • Size a knit up half a step and layer it over a collared shirt for that smart-casual-with-effort feel.

  • Let one loose or baggy piece do the talking — baggy jeans then a fitted top, never baggy-on-baggy.

  • Stick to a tight colour palette (navy, stone, black, ecru) and the affordable price point never reads cheap.

Brands I'd recommend alongside JJ Rebel

If you like the JJ Rebel formula, here's where I'd look across three price tiers for a similar-but-better-fitting wardrobe. (Note for Ella: the brands spreadsheet wasn't attached this time, so I've selected these independently — worth a quick check against the master list before publishing.)

High street

  • Jack & Jones — the parent brand, so sizing carries across almost identically. A useful reference point if you already own their denim.

  • Next — dependable, roomier-than-average fits and a genuinely reliable chino if JJ Rebel's slim cut feels tight.

  • River Island — sharper, more fashion-led cuts at a similar price, strong on trend-driven basics.

  • ASOS Design — huge fit range (slim to baggy) and the best place to size-experiment cheaply.

Independent / boutique

  • Percival — London label doing elevated casualwear with real personality; a proper step up in fabric and finish.

  • Community Clothing — UK-made, honest pricing and a straightforward, true-to-size fit for wardrobe staples.

Designer / luxury

  • Reiss — the natural premium upgrade: cleaner tailoring, better cloth, still very wearable day to day.

  • A.P.C. — minimalist French denim and knitwear that ages beautifully and rewards buying once, buying well.
