What Is Sizing Like at Juicy Couture?

Juicy Couture sizing runs small — and because it's an American brand using US sizing, there's a conversion issue to get your head around before you order. As a general rule, you'll need to go up one to two sizes from your usual UK size, and for the iconic velour tracksuits in particular, sizing up is almost always the right move. I say this from experience — the kind of experience that involves a tracksuit bottom pooling at the ankle while simultaneously cutting off circulation at the waist. Not a great look.

Juicy Couture had its first golden era in the early 2000s — all velour, rhinestones, and "J'Adore Juicy" plastered across the bum. Then the brand faded. Then Y2K came roaring back, Gen Z rediscovered it via TikTok, and suddenly everyone wanted a velour hoodie again. The brand has since relaunched with updated pieces alongside its heritage styles, and it's genuinely having a moment. If you're buying in, though, you need to know how to size correctly — because getting it wrong here is more noticeable than with most brands.

The US to UK Sizing Issue

This is the big one. Juicy Couture is an American brand, and their size labels reflect US sizing. US and UK women's sizing are not the same — typically, US sizes run two numbers smaller than UK. So:

  • US XS = roughly UK 6–8

  • US S = roughly UK 8–10

  • US M = roughly UK 12

  • US L = roughly UK 14

  • US XL = roughly UK 16

So if you're a UK 12, you'd typically be looking at a US Medium. However — and this is key — Juicy Couture also cuts slim within those US sizes. So my advice is: use the size conversion as your starting point, then size up one further. A UK 12 should look at a US Large. I know that sounds alarming, but sizing up on a velour tracksuit means it drapes properly and looks luxe rather than stretched and tight.

The Velour Tracksuit — Getting the Fit Right

The tracksuit is the reason most people come to Juicy Couture, so let's talk about it properly. The hoodies and zip-ups tend to run truer than the bottoms — the bottoms are where most people get caught out. The waistband is elasticated but doesn't have a huge amount of stretch, and the leg length is cut for a longer American frame. If you're petite (5'4" and under), the regular length will likely be too long — look for a cropped or shorter inseam option, or be prepared to get them taken up.

  • Hoodies & zip-ups: Size up one from your usual UK equivalent — you want it slightly roomy for the authentic look.

  • Tracksuit bottoms: Size up one to two from your UK equivalent. Check the inseam if you're petite.

  • T-shirts & tanks: These run very small — size up at least one, possibly two if you're fuller on the bust.

  • Dresses: Their dress range is more fitted — use measurements rather than just size labels and check the specific product's size guide.

  • Bags & accessories: No sizing issues here, obviously — and honestly, their bags are a brilliant way to get the Juicy vibe without any sizing stress at all.

My Honest Take on Quality vs. Nostalgia

Look, I love the revival as much as the next person who grew up watching Paris Hilton swan around in velour. But I want to be straight with you: the current relaunched pieces vary in quality. The original early-2000s Juicy tracksuits were made with a substantially heavier velour — you could feel the weight and the quality. Some of the newer pieces are noticeably lighter and thinner. This doesn't mean they're not worth buying — at the price point they're selling at through retailers like ASOS and their own site, the value is still there — but go in with realistic expectations. It's Y2K fashion fun, not heirloom knitwear.

That said, the rhinestone logo detailing, the signature velour texture, and the overall aesthetic remain genuinely iconic. Worn with confidence and the right styling, a Juicy tracksuit is a brilliant piece — just size up and don't expect it to outlast your Barbour jacket.

How to Style Juicy Couture Right Now

Post Image

The current way to wear Juicy that feels modern rather than fancy dress? Keep everything else extremely pared-back and considered. The tracksuit does the talking — let it. Here's what works:

  • Velour zip-up with straight-leg jeans and a simple white vest underneath — Y2K but wearable.

  • Full tracksuit with clean white trainers and a structured tote (no rhinestone everything — pick one focal point).

  • Juicy hoodie layered over a slip dress with pointed heels — this works, I promise.

  • The bottoms as actual loungewear at home, which is honestly their highest calling.

Brand Alternatives — Where to Shop a Similar Vibe

Whether Juicy Couture's sizing or price point isn't quite working for you, here are my picks by budget:

High Street

  • Urban Outfitters — Hands down the best high street destination for Y2K and 90s-inspired casual pieces. Their own-brand UO line does velour and logo-heavy loungewear brilliantly, and sizing is consistent.

  • ASOS — Actually stocks Juicy Couture directly, but their own ASOS Design loungewear sets are great value alternatives. Excellent size range and detailed fit reviews from real customers.

  • Topshop — Now online via ASOS, but their revival has brought back some genuinely good Y2K-inspired casual pieces. Well worth browsing.

  • Hollister — Great for casual American-brand vibes — their hoodies and jogger sets are soft, well-made for the price, and sized consistently. A solid Juicy alternative for the casual-cool look.

  • Abercrombie & Fitch — Has had an enormous quality and design glow-up over the past couple of years. Their YPB (Your Personal Best) lounge range is genuinely lovely — flattering, soft, and sized with real bodies in mind.

  • Calvin Klein — If you want the logo-heavy casual look but with a cleaner, more minimalist edge, Calvin Klein's loungewear and underwear-inspired pieces hit that mark perfectly.

  • All Saints — For a darker, more editorial take on the casual tracksuit aesthetic. Their joggers and hoodies are cut well and feel more grown-up than the average high street option.

Premium

  • Tommy Hilfiger — Premium American heritage brand with a strong casual sportswear offer. Tracksuits and lounge sets are higher quality than Juicy, sizing is reliable, and the logo aesthetic scratches a very similar itch — just with a more classic, preppy direction.

  • Ted Baker — For elevated casual and occasion-wear that still has personality and a sense of fun. Their sizing runs true to UK size and the quality is a genuine step up.

Luxury / Designer

  • Olivia Rubin — A brilliant independent British designer whose sequinned and embellished pieces tap into a very similar maximalist, unapologetically fun aesthetic as Juicy Couture — but with a luxury, grown-up finish. She's had a serious moment in the UK press and is worth every penny for occasion dressing with personality.

  • Retrofête — A New York-based label beloved by fashion editors for its sequin and velvet occasion pieces. If you're drawn to Juicy's glitzy DNA but want to invest in something you'll wear for years rather than seasons, Retrofête is where to look. Gorgeous, maximalist, and genuinely special.
