What Is Sizing Like at Leset?

Author: Stylist at TellarDate: 2026

Leset fits true to size — order your usual size and you'll be spot on across almost the entire range. This is one of the rare brands where I don't issue a single caveat before a client clicks "add to basket". The LA label has built its whole reputation on elevated basics that actually fit, and after years of styling people in their tees and knits, I can tell you the sizing is about as honest as it gets.

That said, "true to size" doesn't mean "one fit suits all". Leset runs several distinct lines and each has its own personality, so let me talk you through exactly what to expect before you commit your money.

The short answer on fit

Take your normal size. Leset's chart runs from XS through to XL (roughly a UK 6 to a UK 16), and in my experience the measurements are accurate — when the chart says a bust will fit, it fits. A few things worth knowing before you order:

  • Slim-fit styles are genuinely slim. The Pointelle Slim Tee and similar fitted shapes skim the body. If you like a little breathing room, size up one.

  • The Margo Tee is the outlier. It's a relaxed boat-neck with a generous, slightly cropped body and slouchy sleeves. It's meant to look oversized, so stick to your usual size rather than panicking and sizing down.

  • The Rio line — the cult stirrup leggings and ponte pieces — has real stretch. Structured but forgiving, so true to size and no need to overthink it.

  • Cotton-heavy lines can shrink. Anything 100% cotton, including Kyoto and the pointelle styles, should be hand-washed cold and laid flat. Tumble-drying is how you turn a perfect medium into a small.

A quick confession

I'll be honest with you — the first time I ordered the Margo Tee, I sized down, convinced a "boxy boat-neck" would swamp me. Rookie error. It arrived looking like I'd borrowed it from a smaller sibling: strained across the bust, none of that effortless slouch the style is famous for. I reordered my actual size and it was perfect — that loose, tuck-the-front-in, slightly-designer drape. The lesson, which I now give every client: trust the brand's intention, not your nerves.

Fabric is the real sizing variable

With Leset, the fibre tells you more than the label does. The ponte and modal pieces have give and will forgive a big lunch; the pure-cotton styles sit closer to the body and don't relax through the day. So if you're between sizes, let the fabric decide — go up in stiff cotton, stay put in anything with stretch. It's a far more reliable rule than agonising over the numbers.

Where to shop if you love the Leset look

Leset is the gold standard for "quiet luxury" basics, but it ships from the US and the prices reflect that. If you want the same elevated-basics energy closer to home, here's exactly where I'd send you.

High street

  • COS — the closest high-street match for Leset's clean, minimal silhouettes and lovely heavyweight cottons.

  • Uniqlo — unbeatable for honest, true-to-size cotton tees plus their cult Heattech and Supima layers.

  • Marks & Spencer — the cotton-rich basics and Autograph line punch well above their price point on fit and longevity.

  • Massimo Dutti — polished, more expensive-feeling knits and tees with a grown-up, tailored cut.

  • The White Company — the loungewear and easy basics have that same soft, slip-it-on-and-feel-expensive quality.

  • Hush — brilliant for relaxed everyday staples and exactly the kind of slouchy tee Leset does so well.

  • Mint Velvet — soft, tactile separates with a relaxed-luxe feel and reliably generous, comfortable sizing.

  • Sweaty Betty — if it's the Rio stirrup-legging vibe you're chasing, their ponte and seamless pieces are the high-street answer.

Premium

  • Toteme — Scandinavian minimalism with the same understated, investment-piece confidence.

  • Theory — superb for elevated tees and fine-gauge knits cut with a clean, modern line.

  • Joseph — the connoisseur's choice for beautiful knitwear and impeccably simple basics.

  • Brora — when you want the cashmere upgrade; soft, classic and built to last for years.

Luxury / designer

  • Max Mara — the Leisure line in particular delivers that buttery, sculptural knitwear in a true-to-size fit.

  • The Row — the ultimate aspirational version of everything Leset does; faultless fabric and cut.

  • Loro Piana — the absolute pinnacle for cashmere and refined basics, if budget is no object.

Two off the beaten track

  • Cou Cou Intimates — a small label doing dreamy pointelle tees and sets; if Leset's pointelle line is your thing, you'll adore these.

  • Lavender Hill Clothing — a UK independent making genuinely lovely organic-cotton and modal basics at a fraction of designer prices.
