What Is Sizing Like at Louche?

Louche runs slightly small to true to size — if you're between sizes, I'd always recommend sizing up, particularly in their tea dresses and fitted blouses. I've had clients (and personal experience!) where sticking stubbornly to a usual size results in a zip that goes precisely nowhere. A quick size up, and suddenly you've got the dreamy, floaty silhouette Louche does so brilliantly.
Louche is one of those brands I genuinely love recommending because the aesthetic is so singular — playful, vintage-inspired prints, beautifully feminine cuts, and that effortless London-boho energy that doesn't try too hard. But sizing? It's worth knowing the quirks before you buy.
About Louche & Their Sizing Philosophy
Founded in London, Louche has built a loyal following around its signature print dresses, wrap styles, and whimsical blouses. Their sizing runs from UK 6 to UK 22 across most styles, which I appreciate — it's genuinely inclusive for an indie brand of this scale. The fit philosophy leans feminine and relaxed rather than body-con, which means even in the smaller sizes there's usually enough fabric to move and breathe in.
That said, the cut can vary by garment type. The structured bodices on some of their midi dresses tend to be the tightest point, while the skirt section of their wrap dresses often has more forgiveness. I've tried on a Louche wrap dress in my usual UK 10 and it's been perfect; I've also tried a fitted shirt dress in the same size and had to go to a 12. That inconsistency is the key thing to know.

Ella's tip: If you're buying Louche for the first time, grab your tape measure before you hit add to cart. Their website lists per-garment measurements and it's genuinely worth a 30-second check — their prints are gorgeous enough to be worth the extra moment of due diligence.
Sizing by Garment Type
DRESSES
Dresses are Louche's heartland — and the sizing here is where you need to pay the most attention. Their wrap dresses and smock-style midi dresses tend to be the most forgiving; the wrap ties mean you can adjust fit to your waist, and I've seen them work beautifully across multiple size variations. Their fitted shirt dresses and structured bodice styles, on the other hand, are where I consistently advise sizing up one.
Wrap dresses: Generally true to size — the adjustable tie makes these wonderfully flexible
Smock/tiered midi dresses: True to size, sometimes even generous — great if you're between sizes
Fitted shirt dresses: Size up — the chest and shoulder area can run snug
Sleeveless shift styles: True to size, but check bust measurements carefully if you're fuller-busted
TOPS & BLOUSES
Louche blouses are a bit of a hidden gem — the prints are just as lovely as their dresses but the price point is slightly lower. In terms of fit, their blouses tend to run slightly small in the bust. I'm a UK 10 across most brands and I've occasionally needed a 12 in Louche's more structured tops. The looser, oversized styles sit true to size.
Fitted or buttoned blouses: Size up if you're fuller-busted
Relaxed/oversized tops: True to size
Puff-sleeve and gathered styles: Usually true to size — the gathered silhouette adds room naturally
TROUSERS & JUMPSUITS
Louche does a lovely range of wide-leg trousers and print jumpsuits — very on-brand and genuinely wearable. Trousers run true to size on the waist but can feel slightly shorter in the leg than you might expect; I'd say they're cut for around a 29–30 inch inseam, so if you're taller than 5'7", factor that in. Their jumpsuits run small in the torso — this is probably the one garment where I'd most consistently advise sizing up.
Wide-leg trousers: True to size at the waist; check leg length if you're tall
Jumpsuits: Size up — the torso length tends to run short
Co-ord sets: True to size; mix and match sizes top and bottom if needed as pieces are often sold separately
KNITWEAR & OUTERWEAR
Louche's knitwear is less of a core focus for the brand, but when they do it, the pieces tend to be relaxed and run true to size. Their outerwear — occasional jackets and coats — is worth sizing up if you're planning to layer underneath.
My Honest Styling Verdict on Louche
I genuinely think Louche is one of the best-value brands for print-lovers in the UK right now. The quality is solid for the price point, the prints are properly considered (not fast-fashion generic), and the silhouettes are universally flattering — lots of waist definition without being restrictive. My personal go-to is their midi wrap dress in any given season; I've worn them to weddings, press events, and completely dressed-down with trainers.
Where I'd be more cautious is the jumpsuit and structured bodice territory — these need the right measurements behind them. And if you're between sizes, always go up. Louche's aesthetic is meant to feel effortless and a little floaty; squeezing into a size too small completely defeats the vibe.
Brands Worth Trying If You Love Louche

Whether Louche's sizing doesn't quite work for your shape, or you simply want more options in that print-forward, feminine-boho space, here are my honest picks — organised by budget.
HIGH STREET
Anthropologie — Probably the closest in spirit to Louche; gorgeous prints, vintage-leaning cuts, and a similarly playful femininity. Sizing tends to be consistent and true to size.
Monsoon — Brilliant for bold print dresses, with a strong emphasis on occasion-worthy styles. Runs true to size and often has more generous cuts in the bodice.
Phase Eight — For those who want Louche's feminine silhouettes with slightly more polish and structure. Great for weddings and events. Runs true to size.
Oliver Bonas — Playful prints, quirky details, and a very similar price point. Sizing is generally reliable and true to size across their dress range.
White Stuff — If you love Louche's quirkier, more characterful prints, White Stuff hits a similar note with a slightly more relaxed, country-casual edge. Runs true to size.
Mint Velvet — For when you want the print-and-relaxed-silhouette combination but with a slightly more grown-up, luxe finish. Sizing is true to size and the quality feels noticeably elevated.
Warehouse — Solid choice for print midi dresses and feminine blouses at a lower price point. Sizing can run slightly small so it's worth checking the size guide.
Oasis — Feminine, print-led dresses with lovely vintage touches. Sizing is generally true to size and the fit is flattering across most body shapes.
PREMIUM
Me&Em — Elevated basics and beautifully cut feminine pieces. Less print-forward than Louche but the quality and fit are excellent. Runs true to size.
Reiss — For a more refined, structured take on femininity. Sizing is consistent and the fabrication is a step up from Louche's price point.
INDEPENDENT & LEFT-FIELD PICKS
Traffic People — A London-based independent with an almost identical aesthetic to Louche — bold prints, wrap dresses, feminine silhouettes. They're genuinely wonderful and slightly under the radar. Sizing runs true to size.
Compañia Fantastica — A Spanish indie brand with beautiful, vivid prints and relaxed Mediterranean shapes. If you've never heard of them, consider this your introduction. Available via ASOS and their own site; sizing runs slightly large so you may be able to size down.
