What Is Sizing Like at Lounge?

Author: Stylist at TellarDate: 2026

Lounge generally runs true to size for most styles, but their bodysuits and fitted sets can come up slightly small — if you're between sizes, sizing up is almost always the right call. Here's everything you need to know before you add to cart.

I'll be honest — I resisted Lounge for a long time. The brand was everywhere on Instagram and my initial instinct was to be sceptical of anything that popular. But then a friend bought me a Lounge set for my birthday and I completely reversed my position within twenty minutes of putting it on. They absolutely nailed the fabric. The question I get asked most though? "But does it actually fit properly?" So let me break it down properly for you.

How Does Lounge Size Their Clothes?

Lounge uses standard UK sizing with their own alpha sizing system — XS through to 2XL (and some pieces extending to 3XL). They produce their garments with a slim, fitted silhouette in mind, which is worth bearing in mind if you prefer things a little more relaxed. Their sizing is generally consistent across the range, which is more than you can say for a lot of brands at this price point.

The main caveat I'd give is this: the more structured and fitted the garment, the more likely you are to want to go up a size. Bodysuits, slinky sets, and anything with a ribbed or seamless construction in particular have less stretch forgiveness than their softer fleece pieces. Their cosy brushed sets and wide-leg trousers, on the other hand, tend to be genuinely true to size or even a little generous.

💡 Ella's tip: If you're ordering a set, size for whichever part of your body is larger — bust or hips. The waistbands on the bottoms have good stretch, so your top half is usually the deciding factor.

Garment-by-Garment Fit Breakdown

Not all Lounge pieces behave the same way — here's what I've found from trying (and yes, occasionally returning) a fair few of them:

  • Bodysuits: Size up. These are the most unforgiving piece in the range. I'm usually a medium and had to go large — particularly if you have a longer torso.

  • Matching lounge sets (fleece/brushed): True to size, with a comfortable, relaxed fit. These are the safest buy on the site.

  • Ribbed or seamless sets: Size up if you're between sizes. The rib fabric is less stretchy than you'd think.

  • Underwear & bralettes: True to size. Their bralettes are particularly well-reviewed for fit and their underwear is true to UK sizing.

  • Swimwear: Slightly on the smaller side. I'd recommend going up one size if you're not sure, especially in the bikini tops if you're fuller-busted.

  • Wide-leg trousers & joggers: Generously cut in the leg, true to size in the waist. Great for curvier figures.

  • Oversized hoodies & sweatshirts: Intentionally oversized, so you can comfortably stick to your usual size — don't be tempted to go down.

Does Lounge Work Well for Petite or Fuller Figures?

Post Image

For petite women, the longer-bodied styles (particularly the one-pieces and playsuits) can be a bit of a struggle — I've heard this a lot. The sets and separates are a better option. For fuller figures, the wide-leg loungewear and oversized sweatshirt styles are a really flattering choice; Lounge's fabrics are cut to drape rather than cling in their more relaxed pieces, which is a genuine plus. The brand goes up to 3XL on selected styles too, although the inclusive size range is something they're still expanding — worth checking each listing individually.

Quality vs. Price — Is It Worth It?

Lounge isn't the cheapest option on the market (their sets typically sit between £60–£120), but for the fabric quality and how well the pieces wash, I think the price is fair. I've got pieces I've had for two years that still look good — no pilling, no sagging. The key is to follow their care instructions properly. Cold wash, don't tumble dry, and they'll last.

Best Alternatives to Lounge — By Budget

If Lounge isn't quite working for your shape, budget, or sizing needs, here are the brands I'd genuinely recommend — picked based on product quality, style reviews, and what actually delivers on its promises:

HIGH STREET PICKS

  • Sweaty Betty — Brilliant for active lounge crossover. Their Hatha yoga and lounge range is seriously comfortable and sizes up consistently well.

  • Lululemon — The gold standard in elevated lounge and activewear. Pricier, but the sizing is very reliable and the quality is exceptional.

  • ASOS — Their own-brand lounge sets are a great affordable alternative to Lounge, with a huge range of styles and inclusive sizing.

  • M&S — Often underestimated for lounge basics. Their modal mix pyjama sets and lounge trousers are excellent value and wash beautifully.

  • Urban Outfitters — Great for that same relaxed, matching-set aesthetic. Their BDG range in particular does some lovely brushed fleece co-ords.

  • Calvin Klein — For underwear and bralettes especially. A CK bralette with Lounge joggers is honestly one of my favourite easy outfits.

  • Hollister — Their cosy-collection fleece sets punch well above their price point. Really soft fabric and the sizing is reliable.

  • Me&Em — If you want something more elevated for working from home or smart casual lounging. Their jersey and knit pieces are impeccably cut.

INDEPENDENT & NICHE PICKS WORTH KNOWING

  • Stripe & Stare — A brilliant UK-based brand making incredibly soft, sustainable underwear and lounge basics. If you love Lounge's underwear but want something with better eco credentials, this is your answer. Sizes very true to size and the fabric quality is gorgeous.

  • Fable & Eve — A small UK brand doing beautiful, considered loungewear and sleepwear. Their bamboo-blend pieces are silky soft, genuinely sustainable, and the fit is more generous and inclusive than Lounge. Very much worth exploring if you want something a bit different.
