What Is Sizing Like at Maygel Coronel?
Author: Stylist at TellarDate: 2026
Maygel Coronel runs almost entirely on a signature One Size model – a single, cleverly engineered size built to flatter a wide sweep of bodies – with two extra options, Petit and Extended, for anyone who wants a noticeably firmer or roomier fit. So if you’ve been hovering over that ruffled one-piece wondering which size to add to basket, the short answer is: there usually isn’t one. You choose the fit, not the number. And honestly, once you understand how it works, it’s one of the more reassuring sizing systems in luxury swimwear.
I’ve styled a lot of holiday wardrobes over the years, and “one size fits all” normally makes me wince – it’s usually code for “fits a size 8 and nobody else.” Maygel Coronel is the rare exception, and below I’ll talk you through exactly how their fit behaves and how to pick with confidence.
The One Size philosophy (and why it actually works)
This Cartagena-born, Colombian-made label built its name on sculptural one-pieces with those puffy, architectural ruffles – and the whole thing hangs on their One Size fabric. It’s a high-stretch polyamide-elastane blend (roughly 78% polyamide, 22% elastane) with what the brand calls “muscle memory” technology, meaning it moulds to you, then springs back to shape rather than bagging out after a few wears.
In practice, that single One Size comfortably spans somewhere around a UK 8 to a UK 14, depending on the style and where you carry your shape. The clever bit is that the design does the work – ruching, asymmetric cut-outs and those signature ruffles are all engineered to skim and sculpt rather than cling.
So… will it actually fit me?
For most people, yes – but here’s my honest stylist take on who it suits best:
If you’re between a UK 8 and 14, the standard One Size is designed for you, and the stretch handles a good range of bust and hip combinations.
If you’re petite or a smaller frame and don’t want any excess fabric, you’ll likely prefer the firmer hold of Petit.
If you’re a fuller UK 14–18 or simply prefer more coverage and a relaxed feel, Extended is your friend.
Bigger busts: the one-pieces give decent support, but most styles arrive unpadded and a couple run slightly sheer in pale shades, so factor in removable cups.
A quick confession – my own first Maygel-style one-piece taught me this the hard way. I packed it for Mallorca in a soft buttermilk shade, didn’t check the lining, and spent the first morning doing the classic poolside arms-crossed shuffle. Lesson learned: with luxury swimwear, always check coverage and colour before the suitcase, not after.
How to choose between Petit, One Size and Extended
The brand’s own rule of thumb is genuinely useful, so here it is in plain English:
Small/S frame wanting a firmer fit → Petit. Wanting it looser → One Size.
Larger/L frame wanting a firmer fit → One Size. Wanting it looser → Extended.
My shortcut: decide how you want it to feel first. Holiday-relaxed and easy? Size towards the looser end. Sculpted and snug for photos and confidence? Go firmer. The fabric is forgiving either way, which is exactly why this brand has such a cult following.
Where else to shop if Maygel isn’t quite your fit

At around £250–£330 a piece, Maygel Coronel is a proper investment. If you love the sculptural, ruffled, one-size look but want options across the price ladder, here’s where I’d send my clients.
High street
Marks & Spencer – the unsung hero of high-street swim, with genuinely supportive, tummy-skimming one-pieces and a huge size range.
Mango – the closest high-street match for that elevated, sculptural one-piece look, and brilliant value.
Anthropologie – the go-to for ruffles, texture and statement resortwear that nods to the Maygel aesthetic.
Seasalt Cornwall – coastal, comfortable swimsuits cut for real bodies and real swimming.
Boden – flattering, colourful one-pieces with proper bust support and a holiday-ready palette.
Monsoon – embellished, occasion-led resort pieces when you want a bit of drama.
Hush – relaxed, throw-on resortwear and easy swimsuits that travel beautifully.
Premium
Me+Em – polished, grown-up resortwear with the kind of finish that quietly looks expensive.
Sézane – French-girl ease, with pretty swim and cover-ups that style up effortlessly.
Totême – minimalist, sculptural swimsuits for anyone who wants Maygel’s architecture without the ruffle.
Luxury / designer
Eres – the French gold standard of luxury swimwear, with cut and fabric quality that justifies every penny.
Zimmermann – romantic, ruffled, print-led swim and resort that sits in exactly the same world as Maygel.
Max Mara – understated, elegant beachwear for a quieter kind of luxury.
Two off the beaten track
Hunza G – the cult crinkle-stretch label and the cleverest one-size parallel out there; one suit genuinely stretches across multiple sizes.
Peony – an Australian, sustainability-led name making sculptural, sun-soaked resort swim with a lovely conscience.
