What is Sizing Like at Moschino?

Love Moschino runs small — typically one full UK size smaller than you'd expect, thanks to its Italian cut, so as a general rule you should size up by one when shopping the brand. If you're a UK 12 anywhere else, reach for a Love Moschino 44 rather than a 42. I've learned this the slightly embarrassing way, having squeezed myself into a Love Moschino biker jacket at a press event and then had to be quietly helped back out of it by an extremely patient PRperson. Lesson firmly learned.

The Love Moschino Sizing Story

Love Moschino is the contemporary diffusion line of the iconic Moschino house — think bold prints, heart motifs, logo-heavy pieces, and that playful Italian irreverence that makes the brand so irresistible. But Italian fashion houses size for an Italian body: narrower shoulders, a slimmer through-the-body cut, and very little ease built in. It's fashion as architecture, essentially.

This isn't a criticism — the tailoring is genuinely lovely and the quality for the price point is solid. But going in without sizing knowledge can lead to disappointment, especially when you're shopping online.

Love Moschino Size Conversion Chart

Love Moschino uses Italian/EU sizing across its clothing range. Use this as your starting guide:

Italian / EU SizeUK SizeUS SizeApprox. Bust (cm)Approx. Waist (cm)366282633884866740106907142128947544141098794616121028348181410687

Ella's Sizing Tip: Always size up one from your usual UK size at Love Moschino. If you carry more of your weight on your hips or have a fuller bust, consider going up two sizes in fitted styles and having the waist taken in by a tailor — it's worth every penny.

How Sizing Plays Out by Garment Type

The sizing isn't uniform across every piece — here's how to approach different categories:

Dresses & JumpsuitsThese are where the Italian narrow cut is most noticeable. Love Moschino's dresses are designed to skim the body quite closely. If you're between sizes, go up. The fabric doesn't have much give (particularly on the structured mini dresses), and pulling at the seams is not the look we're going for.

Jackets & CoatsAs my ill-fated press event biker jacket demonstrated — size up, always. The shoulder seams on Love Moschino outerwear sit precisely, and a tight jacket across the back is unflattering and uncomfortable. I'd also suggest going up two sizes if you plan to layer underneath in winter.

Knitwear & SweatshirtsA touch more relaxed, but still worth sizing up by one. Their logo sweatshirts in particular come up narrow in the torso. The good news is that oversized is very much on-trend right now, so sizing up two on knitwear gives you that effortlessly cool, slouchy look that feels very current.

Trousers & SkirtsFocus on your hip measurement here rather than your waist — Love Moschino bottoms can be tight across the hips even when the waist fits fine. That Italian cut again. Size by your largest measurement and adjust the waist if needed.

Bags & AccessoriesObviously sizing doesn't apply here in the same way, but Love Moschino bags are what really cemented the brand's cult following. The quilted shoulder bags and logo totes are genuinely excellent quality at this price point — real leather hardware, solid construction, and the kind of logo detail that reads as fun rather than try-hard.

Fit Tips for Different Body Types

Post Image

  • Petite frames: You may find that Love Moschino's slim Italian cut actually works brilliantly for you — the proportions can be very flattering. Stick to your usual UK size or even size down on knitwear.

  • Fuller bust: Size to your bust measurement, not your waist. The structured bodices on dresses and jackets need room across the chest first and foremost.

  • Curvy or hourglass: Go up two sizes in fitted dresses and have the waist taken in if needed. Trust me, the result is absolutely worth it.

  • Taller frames: The hemlines on Love Moschino dresses and skirts can run shorter on taller bodies given the Italian fit model. Factor this in when choosing styles.

What to Wear If Love Moschino Sizing Doesn't Work for You

Love Moschino fills a very specific niche: Italian-cut, logo-forward, premium contemporary fashion with a sense of humour. If the sizing is tricky for your shape, or you want to explore similar aesthetics at different price points, here are my recommendations:

High Street & Accessible Brands:

  • Ted Baker — The closest high street match for Love Moschino's feminine, playful energy. Ted Baker does bold florals, logo detail, and that slightly tongue-in-cheek glamour brilliantly, and the sizing tends to be more generous.

  • Reiss — If you love the structured Italian-cut feel but want something a little more wearable day-to-day, Reiss delivers premium quality tailoring at a more accessible price with a wider size range.

  • Mango — Mango has genuinely nailed Mediterranean fashion sensibility recently — fitted silhouettes, bold colours, and excellent quality for the price. A strong alternative if Love Moschino's sizing doesn't work for you.

  • Me&Em — For the Love Moschino customer who wants the premium feel without the logo, Me&Em offers incredibly well-made, well-cut pieces that punch well above their price point.

  • Anthropologie — If it's Love Moschino's quirky, bold prints you're after, Anthropologie is consistently brilliant. The size range is more inclusive and the quality is genuinely lovely.

  • LK Bennett — For the occasion-wear and feminine dressing that Love Moschino does so well, LK Bennett is a natural alternative — and it comes up more true to UK sizing, which is a relief.

  • French Connection — Fitted, fashion-forward, and with a European sensibility that sits nicely alongside Love Moschino's DNA. Good for structured dresses and sharp tailoring.

  • Cos — If you love the clean, architectural quality of Italian tailoring but prefer understated over logo-led, Cos is your answer. The sizing is more consistent and runs true across categories.

Two Independent Picks Worth Knowing:

  • Olivia Rubin — A brilliant British independent designer who shares Love Moschino's love of bold colour, playful print, and unapologetic femininity. The sizing is more inclusive and the pieces are genuinely joyful to wear. Well worth exploring.

  • Never Fully Dressed — An East London brand that has quietly built a cult following with its bold prints, wrap styles, and inclusive size range. If Love Moschino's fitted Italian cut is too restrictive, Never Fully Dressed delivers maximum personality with much more forgiving proportions.
