What is Sizing Like at Na-kd?

Na-kd runs small by UK standards — if you’re a UK 10 in most high street brands, you will almost certainly want a size M or even an L in Na-kd, and sizing up by at least one is almost always the right move.

I came to Na-kd quite late, if I’m honest. A stylist friend kept flagging their co-ords on Instagram and eventually curiosity got the better of me. I ordered a wrap dress and a two-piece set. The dress arrived looking genuinely lovely — great colour, good construction — but it was pulling across the shoulders and tight around the waist in a way that no amount of adjustment was going to fix. Classic Scandinavian cut. I sent it back, ordered a size up, and it fitted perfectly. Lesson learned, and one I now share with anyone who asks about this brand.

The Na-kd Aesthetic — and Why Sizing Matters More Here

Na-kd is a Swedish brand, founded in Gothenburg in 2015, and it has that unmistakable Scandinavian DNA running through everything it does — clean lines, strong trend direction, lots of co-ords, occasion dresses, and elevated everyday basics. The brand built its following through influencer collaborations and savvy social marketing, and its prices sit at a genuinely accessible mid-market level.

The challenge — and it’s a consistent one — is that their sizing follows European standards and the cuts are designed for a leaner, straighter frame. If you have a curvy bust, fuller hips, or broader shoulders, Na-kd pieces can feel noticeably snug even when you’ve ordered your usual size. This isn’t a flaw exactly; it’s just how Scandi fashion tends to be engineered. Once you know that, shopping with them becomes a lot more straightforward.

Ella’s tip: Use this table as a starting guide, not a guarantee. For fitted styles — bodycon dresses, co-ord sets, tailored trousers — size up by at least one. For oversized knits, boxy blazers, or relaxed cuts, your usual size should be fine.

How Na-kd Sizing Works Across Different Categories

Dresses

This is where sizing catches most people out. Na-kd dresses — especially their occasion and going-out styles — are cut slim through the bust and hip. I’d recommend sizing up by one as a default, particularly if you have a fuller chest (above a B cup) or carry more volume on your hips. Their midi and maxi lengths tend to be slightly more forgiving than the bodycon minis, which are genuinely unforgiving if you go true to size.

Tops & Blouses

Tops are generally true to size or just slightly small. Fitted blouses, corset-style tops, and anything with structure across the chest can run tight — particularly around the bust and shoulders. Size up if in any doubt. Their oversized and boxy styles, on the other hand, are a genuine highlight and tend to be much more accommodating.

Co-ords & Sets

Always go by the larger of your top or bottom measurement, then size up from there. Co-ords are cut as a matching set, and the trousers in particular can be very slim through the hip and thigh. If you’re between sizes on any piece of the set, always go larger — you can belt the waist in if needed, but there’s nothing you can do about a seam that’s straining.

Trousers & Jeans

Na-kd trousers are cut with a slim leg — typically tapered or straight — and they sit low on the waist, which can affect how they sit on the torso. If you have fuller thighs, an athletic build, or a longer rise, size up at least one. Their denim is decent for the price, but it has very little stretch, so don’t rely on the fabric to do the work for you.

Knitwear & Outerwear

This is where Na-kd really shines, in my opinion. Their knits and jackets are generally the most true-to-size pieces in the range, and they’re cut generously enough to layer easily. Stick to your usual size here. Their coats are particularly well-cut for the price point — structured, clean lines, and good fabric weight.

An Honest Word on Quality

Post Image

Na-kd sits at a level above the cheapest end of fast fashion, and for the price, the quality is generally solid. Their knits and outerwear hold up well; their dresses photograph beautifully. The downside is that some of the more affordable pieces — particularly anything with embellishment or a synthetic lining — can feel thinner in person than they look on screen. Always check the fabric composition before purchasing. Anything over 90% polyester on a dress is worth a second thought, especially for warmer weather.

If Na-kd’s Cut Isn’t Working for You — Brilliant Alternatives

The Scandi-slim cut simply doesn’t work for everyone, and there’s absolutely no shame in that. Here are my recommended alternatives across every budget:

High Street Picks

  • ASOS — The closest match to Na-kd’s trend-led offering, but with a far wider size range and generally more forgiving cuts. If you love Na-kd’s aesthetic but find the sizing frustrating, ASOS is your first port of call.

  • River Island — Excellent for occasion and going-out pieces in a very similar aesthetic — co-ords, party dresses, elevated basics — and sizing tends to be more generous through the hips and bust.

  • Urban Outfitters — Probably the closest vibe to Na-kd on the UK high street. The same Scandi-cool sensibility, strong trend edit, and that slightly editorial feel. Sizing is more consistent for UK bodies.

  • Topshop (now via ASOS) — Still one of the best destinations for contemporary dresses and co-ords. The Topshop archive sizing is well understood and reliably consistent for UK shoppers.

  • Warehouse — Consistently underrated for occasion and everyday wear. A more polished, grown-up alternative to Na-kd with great fabric choices and sizes that run true.

  • H&M — As a fellow Scandinavian brand, H&M shares a lot of Na-kd’s design DNA but sizes much more consistently for UK shoppers. A reliable, affordable alternative.

  • French Connection — Slightly more elevated than Na-kd on the occasion side, excellent for weddings and events. Their dresses are beautifully cut and sizing is consistently true.

  • All Saints — When you want that cool, understated aesthetic but with better quality and more predictable sizing. Their leather pieces and jersey basics in particular are brilliant.

Two Independent Picks Worth Knowing

  • Never Fully Dressed — A brilliant London-based label known for vibrant prints, wrap dresses, and genuinely flattering cuts that work across a wide range of body shapes. Their sizing is inclusive and remarkably consistent — a genuine joy to shop, and far less guesswork than Na-kd.

  • Damson Madder — A London independent with a considered, thoughtful approach to colour, pattern, and silhouette. Their pieces are beautifully made and hold their shape considerably better than fast-fashion alternatives at a similar price point. A fantastic left-field recommendation if you want something a bit different.
