What Is Sizing Like at Neon Rose?

Neon Rose sizing runs true to size for most people, but — and here's the bit they don't tell you — the cut varies wildly depending on the garment. Their floaty boho dresses? Generous and forgiving. Their fitted satin pieces? Size up. I've had both a brilliant Neon Rose find and a complete disaster in my time, so let me save you the return queue.

Neon Rose is one of ASOS's own labels, sitting firmly in the boho-vintage corner — think prairie florals, satin slip skirts, lace trims and tiered midis. It's one of those brands that regularly pops up on my radar when a client says "I want something a bit whimsical but I don't want to spend a fortune." And honestly? When you find the right piece in the right size, it absolutely delivers.

The General Sizing Picture

Neon Rose runs in standard UK sizing from a UK 4 right up to a UK 26 — which is genuinely great, and something I always flag as a positive. The extended size range is actually quite well thought through; the silhouettes tend to suit multiple body shapes because the brand leans into relaxed, flowy cuts rather than rigidly structured tailoring.

That said, sizing consistency isn't the brand's strongest suit. I've ordered the same size in two Neon Rose dresses and had one fit perfectly and the other barely get past my hips. So before you order, here's what you actually need to know by garment type.

Dresses

  • Tiered and smock-style dresses — These are the Neon Rose sweet spot. The fabric is usually generous and the elasticated bodices give real flexibility. Stick to your usual size and you'll be fine.

  • Satin slip and fitted midi dresses — These are cut closer to the body and the fabric has zero stretch. Go up a size, especially if you're fuller in the bust or hips. I learnt this the hard way at a wedding I was styling — my client's dress arrived looking gorgeous on the hanger and absolutely unforgiving on the body. Size up, always.

  • Wrap dresses — Genuinely flattering and size-flexible. Wraps are the one style where I'd say order your usual size with confidence.

Tops & Blouses

The lace and broderie tops Neon Rose does so well tend to run true to size, but keep in mind many are cropped — sometimes more cropped than the product photos suggest. If you're taller than around 5'7" or prefer coverage around your midriff, size up or look specifically for their "longline" or "oversized" labelled styles. The shirred and elasticated styles are the most size-forgiving across the range.

Skirts

  • Tiered midi and maxi skirts — Beautifully generous. True to size, and the waistbands are usually elasticated so there's room to breathe.

  • Satin bias-cut skirts — Same rule as the satin dresses: size up. The fabric clings and there's no give whatsoever.

Co-ords & Matching Sets

Post Image

Neon Rose do some lovely co-ords — usually a tiered skirt with a matching crop top or corseted blouse. My advice here is to always order the top and bottom as separates if you can, because your top and bottom sizes may well differ. If you have to buy as a set, go with your larger measurement and size accordingly.

What the Fashion Hub Verdict Is

I genuinely like Neon Rose for what it is — an affordable, trend-led boho brand with a surprisingly wide size range. The quality isn't heirloom, but the pieces photograph beautifully and are excellent value for event dressing, holidays, or summer occasions. Just be size-savvy: floaty and tiered styles are your friend at true-to-size, while anything fitted in satin warrants sizing up.

What to Shop Instead (By Budget)

If Neon Rose isn't quite hitting the mark for you — whether that's fit, quality, or style — here are my honest alternatives across every price point:

High Street

  • ASOS — As the parent platform of Neon Rose, ASOS carries hundreds of similar boho styles across multiple brands; filter by "boho" or "tiered" and you'll find plenty of sizing options and extensive reviews.

  • Zara — For the more polished, grown-up take on vintage-inspired dressing. Their satin and silk-look pieces are excellent quality for the price and the sizing is more consistent.

  • Mango — Their prairie blouses and tiered skirts are beautifully done. Sizing tends to be more generous in the Spanish sizing tradition — often worth going down a size.

  • Urban Outfitters — A strong boho edit, particularly good for festival-adjacent pieces, co-ords and feminine printed dresses. Sizing runs standard UK.

  • Topshop — Still a go-to for trend-led occasion pieces. Their satin slip dresses and floral maxis are a direct Neon Rose competitor, often with better size consistency.

  • River Island — Great for embellished and feminine styles at brilliant prices. Sizing is generally true to UK standard and customer reviews are thorough.

  • H&M — Their Conscious and premium lines deliver beautiful boho-adjacent pieces. Don't write them off — some of the linen and cotton tiered pieces are genuinely lovely.

  • Monsoon — A brilliant high street option for occasion boho dressing, particularly for weddings or summer events. Sizing is reliable and their extended range is thoughtfully cut.

Premium

  • Anthropologie — The ultimate boho premium destination. Their sizing runs a little small so check measurements, but the quality is a significant step up and the prints are utterly beautiful.

  • Mint Velvet — Relaxed, elegant boho-meets-smart dressing. Brilliant for women who want the flowy aesthetic without looking too "festival". Sizing is consistent and generous.

Luxury/Designer

  • Max Mara — If the boho edit you're after is more romantic Italian than festival market stall, Max Mara's floaty printed pieces and silk blouses are investment dressing at its finest. Sizing is European and tends to be generous.

Two Independent Picks

  • Feather & Find — A gorgeous independent UK label specialising in sustainably made boho bridal and occasionwear. Their sizing guide is detailed and their customer service is genuinely brilliant.

  • Sister Jane — London-based label with beautifully romantic, vintage-inspired dresses and blouses. Think big florals, puff sleeves and lots of charm. Sizing runs standard UK but can be slim-fitted across the bust — check their individual size notes per style.
