What Is Sizing Like at Object?

TELLAR FASHION HUB · BRAND SIZING GUIDES
By Ella Blake — Fashion Stylist | Tellar Fashion Hub — Always honest, unbiased & unsponsored
Object clothing runs true to size on the whole, but with a slightly slim, Scandinavian-influenced cut that means curvier shapes or those between sizes will often be more comfortable going up one. If you've never shopped Object before, think of it as the cooler, quieter cousin of Vero Moda and Only — all three sit under the Danish Bestseller group — with a slightly more elevated, minimalist aesthetic and a fit that's designed with a lean Nordic silhouette in mind.
I came across Object properly a few years back when I was dressing a client who wanted that whole effortless-Scandi-girl wardrobe — lots of clean lines, interesting textures, not too shouty. Object delivered brilliantly on that brief, and the sizing worked well once we understood the house fit. It's not dramatically different from UK sizing, but there are a few quirks worth knowing before you fill your basket.
Object Women's Size Conversion Guide
Object uses standard EU sizing, which translates fairly cleanly to UK sizes — but the cut through the waist and hip runs narrower than many UK high street brands. Use this table as your baseline:
Object LabelEU SizeUK SizeUS SizeBust (cm)Waist (cm)Hip (cm)XS346280–8361–6487–90S368484–8765–6891–94M3810–126–888–9369–7495–100L4012–148–1094–9975–80101–106XL4214–1610–12100–10781–88107–114XXL4416–1812–14108–11589–96115–122
💡 Ella's tip: Object's M sits across a wider range than many brands — it can cover a UK 10 or a 12 depending on the garment style and fabric. If you're a UK 12 with a fuller hip, I'd go straight to the L. Trust the measurements over the label every time.
How Sizing Plays Out Across Different Pieces
Object's range is broader than people realise — it's not just dresses and blouses. Here's what to expect garment by garment:
Dresses: Object does some genuinely lovely dresses — floaty midis, tailored shirt dresses, occasionwear styles — and these are where their Scandi heritage really shows. The cut tends to be slim through the waist, so if you carry your weight on your hips or have a fuller bust, size up one. Their wrap and bias-cut styles are more forgiving and tend to be more accommodating across sizes.
Blouses & Tops: Generally quite true to size here, with a slightly relaxed shoulder line that works well on most body shapes. Floaty fabrics and looser styles tend to be more accurate to the size guide; fitted or ribbed tops will feel tighter through the bust and waist, so go up if you're unsure.
Trousers & Jeans: Object's trousers follow EU sizing, so the waist-to-hip ratio can be tricky if you have a more pronounced curve. If you're more than a 10-inch difference between waist and hip, go up a size for comfort and alter the waist if needed. Their wide-leg styles are far more forgiving than their slim or straight cuts.
Knitwear & Jumpers: This is where Object actually has a lovely offering — textured knits, oversized styles, and relaxed fits that are designed to have volume. These are often deliberately oversized, so check the product description carefully. A true oversized style might say "relaxed fit" — those you can often take in your usual size.
Coats & Jackets: Object's outerwear tends to have a straighter, more minimal cut. If you have broader shoulders or want to layer knitwear underneath, size up one. Their coats are cut for a sleek profile rather than volume, which is very much part of their aesthetic appeal.
Occasionwear & Satin Styles: These can run particularly slim — satin and smooth fabrics are unforgiving and cling to every bump. I'd always suggest sizing up one from your usual for any satin or fitted occasionwear at Object.
My Honest Fit Advice for Shopping Object
Object is a brand I genuinely rate for its aesthetic — it consistently punches above its price point, and the design direction is far more considered than its more commercial Bestseller siblings. But it does help to go in knowing a few things:
Lean on your measurements, not your usual size. Because Object follows EU sizing with a Scandi-slim cut, there's often a small but significant gap between "the size I always am" and "the size that actually fits me here." Take 30 seconds to measure your bust, waist, and hip before ordering — it saves so much faff with returns.
Fabric matters enormously. A floaty chiffon blouse in an M will feel completely different to a ribbed knit in an M. Object uses both structured and very fluid fabrics, so don't assume the same size works across both.
Check the leg length on trousers. Their inseam on standard trousers typically suits women around 5'6"–5'8". If you're petite, you may need to hem; if you're tall, be prepared for a shorter leg than you'd expect on some styles.
Satin and occasionwear: always size up. I can't stress this enough. Their satin midi dresses are beautiful, but they are cut with zero extra room. If you're an honest UK 12, order the 14 in satin — you'll thank yourself.
Where to Buy Object in the UK
Object isn't stocked in huge numbers of bricks-and-mortar shops in the UK — your best bet is online. ASOS carries a great selection and is probably the most accessible route, with good returns. Zalando is also excellent for Object. Their own website (object.eu) ships to the UK and often has styles that don't make it to third-party retailers, which is worth knowing if you want first pick of new drops.
Love Object's Look? Here Are Smart Alternatives at Every Budget

Object occupies that brilliant middle ground — better than fast fashion, kinder on the wallet than premium. If you love their aesthetic, here's where else to look:
High Street Picks
Cos — The Scandi minimalism comparison is almost unavoidable here. If you love Object's clean lines and considered palette, COS is the natural step-up. Better fabrics, slightly higher price, same aesthetic DNA.
Mango — Mango has absolutely nailed the effortless European aesthetic in recent seasons. Their occasionwear, knitwear, and tailoring are all exceptionally good value and often sit right alongside Object in terms of the mood they create.
Jigsaw — For a more premium high street take on the same clean, elegant sensibility, Jigsaw is consistently brilliant. Their fabrics are notably better and the fit is more generous for UK-shaped bodies.
Anthropologie — If you want a slightly more romantic, textural take on the Object aesthetic, Anthropologie delivers beautifully — particularly for dresses and blouses with interesting fabric or print choices.
Hush — Hush is one of those quiet brands that consistently delivers well-designed, wearable pieces in a similarly restrained colour palette. Their knitwear and casual dresses are particularly strong.
Part Two — Interestingly, Part Two is actually another Scandinavian brand with a very similar positioning to Object — and slightly better-known in the UK than it perhaps should be. Beautifully cut, considered, and great quality for the price.
Warehouse — A solid choice when you want Object-adjacent occasionwear or going-out dresses without the premium price tag. Their satin midi dresses and tailored pieces consistently get strong reviews.
Mint Velvet — For slightly more relaxed, luxe-casual dressing with great fabric quality and a similar colour sensibility to Object, Mint Velvet is a brilliant pick — particularly for women who want a more grown-up take on the look.
Premium & Designer Alternatives
Samsøe Samsøe — A Danish brand that sits just above Object in terms of price and quality, but shares that same Scandinavian-cool DNA entirely. Their knitwear and dresses are exceptional and they're genuinely worth the step-up spend if Object's aesthetic is your thing.
& Other Stories — H&M Group's premium fashion label, but genuinely premium in feel. Brilliant for elevated basics, beautiful knitwear, and occasionwear that feels more considered than its price tag suggests.
Independent & Left-Field Picks
Lovechild 1979 — A Danish independent label that's been quietly building a cult following among women who love Scandi dressing done properly. Their dresses and blouses have a beautiful, slightly artistic quality that Object fans will love immediately.
Remain Birger Christensen — A Copenhagen-based label that's become a serious name on the international fashion circuit. More expensive than Object but genuinely exceptional — their occasionwear in particular is the kind of thing you keep for years.
