What Is Sizing Like at Object Clothing?

By Robin BlakeSizing Expert Stylist & Founder of TellarDate: 2026

Always Honest, Unbiased, Unsponsored & Free Content.

Object runs largely true to size, but with a distinctly Scandinavian twist: the relaxed, boxy silhouettes the brand is loved for mean plenty of pieces wear a full size bigger than the label suggests, while the structured blouses and blazers can pull in surprisingly close. So before you reflexively size up "because it's Scandi," it's worth knowing exactly which styles are generous and which ones aren't — because Object is one of those labels where two garments in the same dress size can fit like chalk and cheese.

I've styled a fair amount of Object over the years (it's a regular on ASOS, Zalando and ABOUT YOU), and it's a brand I genuinely rate for that effortless Copenhagen-girl look at a sensible price. Object Collectors Item is part of the Danish Bestseller group — the same stable as Only and Vero Moda — so you're getting that clean, minimal, slightly editorial aesthetic without the eye-watering price tag. Here's how it actually fits on a real body.

The Honest Verdict on Object's Fit

The golden rule with Object is to let the style guide you, not the size label. The cut does most of the talking here.

  • Relaxed shirts & longline button-ups: Cut generously and designed to drape. Take your normal size for the intended oversized look, or size down one if you want something neater and less swamping.

  • Knitwear: Object's bread and butter. Chunky ribs and dropped-shoulder jumpers run true to size but wear roomy — size down if you want definition rather than cocoon.

  • Blouses & wrap tops: The sneaky ones. More structured than they look and can feel snug across the bust, so size up if you're fuller-busted.

  • Wide-leg & tapered trousers: True to your waist size, then relaxed through the leg and hip. The waistband is your anchor, not the overall silhouette.

  • Blazers: Clean and slightly narrow in the shoulder. If you plan to layer a chunky knit underneath, go up a size.

My own Object win (and fail)

My genuine win was an Object rib-knit midi dress I bought in my usual size for a winter work trip — it skimmed everything and looked far more expensive than it was. The fail? An Object wrap blouse I ordered in the same size, assuming "Scandi = roomy," that gaped horribly across the chest the second I sat down. Lesson learned, and the reason I now always check fit by garment type rather than trusting the brand wholesale.

Where Object Sits — and What to Buy Instead

Object lives in that lovely sweet spot: better fabric and cut than fast fashion, friendlier prices than the premium Scandi names. If you love the look but want to shop around the price ladder, here's where I'd send you.

High Street

  • Mango — the closest high-street match for Object's elevated-minimal look, with excellent tailoring and knitwear that punches well above its price.

  • COS — architectural, pared-back and beautifully fabric-led; the go-to if you want Object's clean lines turned up a notch.

  • Whistles — contemporary British separates with a similar grown-up, considered feel and slightly sharper tailoring.

  • Jigsaw — quietly luxe everyday basics in lovely natural fibres, ideal if you want Object's ease with a bit more polish.

  • Uniqlo — unbeatable for fine-gauge knits and layering pieces to build a Scandi capsule around.

  • Mint Velvet — relaxed-luxe staples with a soft, drapey sensibility that sits right alongside Object.

  • Hush — easy, lived-in wardrobe heroes — slouchy knits and breezy shirts in the same neutral palette.

  • Seasalt Cornwall — natural-fibre, relaxed-fit pieces if you want the comfort of Object's cuts with a softer, coastal feel.

Premium

  • By Malene Birger — the natural Danish step up from Object; elevated Scandi tailoring and statement knits with proper drama.

  • Sézane — French rather than Scandi, but the same timeless, quietly chic separates that never date.

  • Baukjen — British, sustainable and beautifully cut, with the relaxed-tailoring vibe Object fans gravitate towards.

Luxury / Designer

  • Totême — the Swedish luxury benchmark for minimalism; the dream upgrade if you live in clean lines and neutral knits.

  • Max Mara — the gold standard for investment coats and knitwear, with the same understated elegance taken to couture level.

  • Joseph — refined, fabric-obsessed separates and tailoring that feel like Object's grown-up, big-budget sibling.

Two Left-Field Independents to Discover

  • Stylein — a small Stockholm label doing precise, minimal Scandi tailoring that flies under the radar but absolutely shouldn't.

  • Aiayu — a Danish slow-fashion gem working in llama wool, organic cotton and beautifully muted tones; pieces you'll keep for a decade.
