What Is Sizing Like at Paige clothing Menswear?

Paige menswear generally runs true to size on the waist, but the cut is where people get caught out. Buy your usual jean waist in inches and you'll be in the right ballpark, but because almost everything is built on Paige's stretchy Transcend denim, the fit hugs closer than a rigid pair would. If you're between sizes, or you're an athletic build with real thighs, the fit name matters more than the number on the label.

How Paige sizing actually works

Paige is a Los Angeles denim house founded by Paige Adams-Geller, a former fit model, so fit is genuinely the heart of the brand rather than an afterthought. Menswear denim is sized by waist in inches, typically 28 to 40, and the leg length is fixed per fit rather than chosen separately, so the taper and rise do the heavy lifting.

The thing to understand is the fabric. Most of the range uses Transcend or Transcend Vintage denim, which has proper stretch and recovery. That means:

  • They're forgiving through the day. A pair that feels snug in the shop will settle after an hour. Don't panic-size up.

  • They mould rather than gape. If you're stuck between two waist sizes, take the smaller one — the stretch gives, and the larger size tends to bag at the waistband.

  • The rise sits mid. Most fits land at a modern mid-rise, comfortable for the vast majority of blokes without being low-slung.

The fits, decoded

  • Federal — the modern slim-straight and the safest starting point. Slight ease at the hip, loosely fitted through the thigh, straight from the knee down. Runs true to size and comes in half sizes, so it's the go-to for athletic and gym builds.

  • Lennox — the true slim: fitted through the thigh and tapered from knee to ankle. Some men find it a touch generous, so if you're between sizes here, it's the one fit where sizing down is worth a try.

  • Croft — the skinniest cut. If you're on the fence, take your true waist rather than sizing down, as there's no room spare.

  • Normandie & Doheny — the straight and relaxed-straight options. Roomier through the hip and leg, so stick to your true waist and let the cut do the relaxing.

Stylist shortcut: if you don't know your builds and rises, don't gamble. Paige is premium money and returns are a faff — measure once and match your body to the exact fit before you check out (more on that below).

A quick word from experience

I'll be honest — Paige taught me a lesson early on. I bought a pair of the skinny Croft in my "high street" waist because I assumed premium denim would run generous, the way some designer labels do. They were like sausage skins. Meanwhile a mate the same build sized down in the Lennox and they fell perfectly. That's the whole game with Paige: the number is nearly always right, it's the fit name people get wrong. Since then I've never bought a pair without checking the cut first, and I've not had a bad one since.

Where else to shop if you love a good fit

If Paige's premium denim is on your radar, here's where I'd point men across three price tiers — each for a different reason.

High street

  • Reiss — for the man who wants Paige's smart-casual polish at a friendlier price. Their tailored denim and clean trousers sit beautifully under a blazer.

  • COS — for a cleaner, more minimal leg. Straighter, architectural cuts if you find slim-taper too fitted.

  • Arket — for honest, hard-wearing everyday denim and chinos without the logo tax. Great sizing consistency across the range.

Independent & boutique

  • Nudie Jeans — for denim obsessives. Organic cotton, a proper free-repair service, and rigid options if you want to break in your own fades.

  • Blackhorse Lane Ateliers — for buying British. London-made raw selvedge with a lifetime repair promise — the antidote to fast fashion.

  • Jeanerica — for understated Scandinavian denim. Clean, timeless cuts that quietly do everything, with excellent mid-rise fits.

Designer & luxury

  • FRAME — Paige's closest LA rival. Very similar stretch-comfort philosophy with a slightly sharper, fashion-forward silhouette.

  • Citizens of Humanity — for premium denim with beautiful washes and a more relaxed, considered fit through the leg.

  • AG (Adriano Goldschmied) — for the softest premium denim on the market and cuts that flatter a broader range of body shapes.
