What Is Sizing Like at Pangaia?

Pangaia runs large and is deliberately designed to fit oversized and slouchy, so for most of the range you should take your usual size for that intended relaxed look, or size down one if you want something closer to the body. The brand works on international sizing (XXS–XXL) and, crucially, most of it is cut unisex — which is where a lot of women get caught out. I've styled a fair few clients into Pangaia over the past couple of years, and the single most common mistake I see is treating it like standard womenswear and ending up swamped. So let me walk you through exactly how it fits, garment by garment.

The short answer: size down if you're a woman

Because Pangaia is built around unisex blocks, a "small" is essentially cut to fit a small man, which means the starting point is already generous. As a general rule I tell women to come down one to two sizes from their normal womenswear size, depending on how cocooning you like things.

If you're usually a UK 12 (M) in womenswear and you love that off-duty, borrowed-from-him look, take your true size.
If you want it to look intentional rather than enormous, drop to an S.
Petite frames (5'3" and under) often do best in an XS or even XXS, and very small frames sometimes have to raid the kids' line, as XXS is the smallest adult size.

How it fits, piece by piece

Pangaia isn't one fit across the board, which is the bit the brand's own size guide doesn't always make obvious. Here's how the hero pieces actually behave:

Hoodies — the boxiest, widest cut of the lot. They come up very large and sit square on the shoulder. Size down if you don't want full-on cocoon energy; the iconic Signature 365 in particular is roomy.
Sweatshirts — the exception. These run closer to a true-to-size, standard sweatshirt, so take your normal size, or go up one if you specifically want it baggy.
T-shirts — true to size with a slightly relaxed body. Only size up if you want extra length. Worth knowing the seaweed-fibre tees feel heavier and more premium than the cotton ones.
Track pants & joggers — elasticated drawstring waist, relaxed leg, forgiving. Take your usual size; size down only if you want them tapered rather than slouchy. They can run long on shorter legs.
Dresses & tank tops — the genuine outliers. These are cut to be more fitted, so stay true to size here. Don't apply the "size down" rule to these or they'll cling.
Compression & high-stretch activewear — designed snug for support, so size up if you want a more relaxed feel.
Denim — Pangaia's jeans use their own unique sizing that doesn't track with the rest of the range, so this is the one category where you genuinely need to check the specific garment measurements rather than guess.

A fit confession from me

My first Pangaia buy was a Signature 365 hoodie in my "normal" size, ordered late one night in my usual womenswear M. It arrived looking like I'd borrowed it from a very tall friend — lovely fabric, completely engulfing. That was the fail. The win came when I re-bought in an S and styled it with slim leggings and trainers: suddenly it read as deliberate, elevated athleisure rather than "I gave up today." How to style it once you've nailed the fit

Balance the volume. An oversized hoodie wants something lean on the bottom — leggings, cycling shorts or slim track pants — so you're not drowning top and bottom.
Break up a matching set occasionally. The full tracksuit is great, but a single Pangaia piece against tailored trousers or a denim midi looks far more considered.
Let the fabric be the hero. These are quietly luxurious, minimalist pieces in soft, natural-toned palettes, so let trainers and gold jewellery do the talking rather than loud prints.
