What Is Sizing Like at People Tree?

Relaxed, not roomy — there's gentle ease through the bust and waist with a soft drape.
Size down on the floaty styles — smock dresses, tunics and oversized jumpers can swamp a smaller frame.

How People Tree sizing actually works

People Tree uses standard UK womenswear sizing, running roughly UK 6 to UK 18, with some styles offered in XS–XL. The cut is built to be comfortable rather than body-con, so there's a little breathing room designed in from the start.

Bust and hips are the numbers that matter — their dresses and tops are cut with movement in mind, so measure those first.
The waist runs forgiving, which is brilliant if you're between sizes or carry a little more around the middle.
Sleeve and garment lengths vary by style — always check the individual product page, as hand-finished pieces don't all measure identically.

If you usually wear a UK 12, expect a People Tree 12 to sit comfortably with a touch of room, particularly on the relaxed shapes.

Where the fit catches people out

The one place I consistently see people get it wrong is the smock and tunic dresses. They look beautiful on the model but carry a lot of fabric, so on a petite or straight-up-and-down frame they can read as shapeless. If that's you, size down or add a belt. The opposite is true of their fitted tees and stretch styles — those are true to size and designed to hug, so don't size down out of habit.

I learned this the slightly embarrassing way. Years ago I ordered a People Tree wrap dress a size up “to be safe” for a client's lookbook shoot, and on camera it absolutely drowned her — we spent the whole day pinning the back with bulldog clips.
