What Is Sizing Like at Re/Done?

Re/Done denim fits true to size, so in most styles you can confidently order your usual jeans size — but because the denim is rigid, largely non-stretch cotton and the brand sizes by waist measurement in inches rather than a UK 8/10/12, there are a couple of quirks I always flag to clients before they hit "add to basket".
I learned this the slightly painful way. My first pair of Re/Done — the 90s High Rise Loose — I sized down out of pure habit, assuming a contemporary brand would have a bit of give. It did not. I spent a fortnight doing the lying-flat-on-the-bed-to-zip-up routine before admitting defeat and exchanging them. Lesson learned, and one I now pass on to everyone: this is proper, old-school denim, not your stretchy everyday jean.
How Re/Done sizing actually works
Re/Done sizes its women's denim by the waist in inches — 23, 24, 25, 26 and up — exactly the way vintage Levi's always did. That's no accident: the brand built its name reworking old Levi's into modern silhouettes, so the DNA is pure heritage denim. If you already know your number in Levi's, AGOLDE or Citizens of Humanity, that's your best possible starting point.
A few things worth knowing before you order:
It's rigid denim. Most core styles are 100% cotton with little to no stretch, so they won't "give" the way an elastane-blend jean does. They soften and mould to you over a few wears, but on day one they feel structured.
Some cuts run small. The slimmer and stove-pipe styles in particular are cut close, and Re/Done will often tell you on the product page to take one size up. Always read the individual style notes — they're genuinely helpful.
Originals vs vintage. The newer Originals line (sustainably made in Cradle to Cradle-certified factories) is consistent and predictable. The genuinely reworked vintage pairs are handmade, so they can vary slightly from pair to pair — treat those as the lovely gamble they are.
They run long. Many styles are designed with a longer, looser leg. Gorgeous with a heel, easy to cuff with flats — but do factor it in if you're petite.
My fit advice as a stylist
Start at your true waist measurement and resist the urge to size down for that "painted-on" look — rigid denim punishes vanity sizing, and there's nothing chic about not being able to sit down. If you're between sizes, I'd size up on anything 100% cotton, because it can shrink a touch in a warm wash. For the high-rise styles (the front rise sits around 11 inches, right at the natural waist), make sure you're comfortable seated in them, not just standing in the mirror. And if you carry more through the thigh or seat, the looser straight and wide-leg cuts are far more forgiving than the slim stove-pipe.
Where to shop the look — high street
If you love the Re/Done aesthetic but want to ease in at a friendlier price, these high street names do rigid, vintage-leaning denim brilliantly:
Levi's — the obvious one, because it's literally the heritage Re/Done reworks. A vintage-straight 501 or a Ribcage is your closest like-for-like.
Gap — quietly excellent high-rise straight and barrel jeans with that proper structured feel.
Uniqlo — clean, well-cut straight and wide-leg denim, sized sensibly and beautifully affordable.
Topshop — back and on form, with the cult straight-leg fits that built its denim reputation in the first place.
River Island — strong for of-the-moment wide and straight shapes if you want the trend without the spend.
Abercrombie & Fitch — genuinely some of the best-reviewed denim on the high street right now, with a brilliant range of inseam lengths.
Mango — reliably chic straight and barrel jeans that punch well above their price point.
Premium picks

AGOLDE — the closest sister in spirit: LA-born, rigid-leaning, sized by the inch, with that same effortless vintage attitude.
Frame — a slightly cleaner, more polished finish with a touch more comfort built in.
Mother — playful, characterful denim with more give and very easy, forgiving sizing.
Luxury and designer
Totême — Scandi minimalism at its best; the rigid straight legs are properly investment-worthy.
Max Mara — beautifully tailored denim at the designer end if quiet luxury is your thing.
Two to know — independent and left-field
E.L.V. Denim — a London label making one-of-a-kind jeans from reclaimed vintage denim. If Re/Done's reworked-vintage ethos is exactly what draws you in, this is the British answer to it.
Triarchy — a small, fiercely sustainable LA denim brand doing gorgeous rigid and recycled-stretch fits, well off the beaten track.
