What Is Sizing Like at Rixo?

Rixo runs true to size in most styles, with standard UK sizing from a 6 to an 18 — but there are a few things you need to know before you order, because the cut and fabric really do vary across their range, and getting it wrong can be an expensive mistake.
I've been dressing women in Rixo for years, and I'll be honest — I've had a few "this looked incredible on the hanger and then I could not do the zip up" moments too. The brand's gorgeous vintage-inspired prints are notoriously flattering, but the sizing is not quite as straightforward as it first appears. Let me break it down properly.
Rixo's General Sizing: What You're Working With
Rixo is a London-born brand, so they work in UK sizes. The good news is that their baseline sizing is broadly consistent — you're not going to be a 10 in one dress and a 16 in another (I'm looking at you, Zara). The less good news? The fit depends enormously on the silhouette and fabric.
Silk-feel and satin styles — these tend to be cut close to the body, especially through the bust. If you're fuller in the chest, going up a size is absolutely the right call.
Wrap and tie-waist styles — genuinely forgiving and adjustable. One of the few Rixo silhouettes where I'd say order your usual size with confidence.
Smocked bodice styles — the smocking adds stretch, which is brilliant. These are often more generous than you'd expect.
Tailored or structured dresses — size up if you're between sizes. These don't have the same give as their floatier pieces.
If you're petite, it's worth noting that Rixo does offer a petite edit — though the range is more limited. For shorter frames, the standard length can hit at an unflattering point on the leg, so it's worth checking the length before you order.
Rixo Size Conversion Table
Rixo uses UK sizing as standard. Here's how that maps across EU and US sizing, along with approximate body measurements:

My Rixo Fitting Advice, Garment by Garment
Midi dresses — Rixo's signature silhouette and honestly the one they do best. Most midi styles are true to size, but if you're buying anything with a defined waist seam and you carry weight in your hips, size up. The waist-to-hip ratio on some styles is cut for a more straight-up-and-down frame.
Mini dresses — again, broadly true to size. Watch out for the bust on anything with a sweetheart or square neckline. I always say: if you're a C cup or above, bump up one size and have the waist taken in if needed. A good tailor will transform a slightly baggy waist into a perfect fit.
Jumpsuits — Rixo's jumpsuits have a longer body length, which works beautifully for women 5'6" and above. If you're more petite, this is where their petite range comes in handy. For sizing, go with your usual top-half size and account for any difference in the hip through layering or alteration.
Tops and blouses — these are probably the most true-to-size pieces in the Rixo range. They tend to have a slightly relaxed cut which is very easy to wear. Your normal size should work well here.
Knitwear — Rixo's knit pieces run slightly on the smaller side. I'd recommend sizing up if you like a relaxed, easy fit, or sticking to your usual if you prefer things more fitted.
What's the Return Policy Like?

Rixo offers a 14-day return policy on unworn, tagged items purchased at full price — which is fairly standard but does mean you need to be fairly decisive. Sale items are generally non-returnable, so it's worth spending an extra five minutes with the size guide before you check out. Their customer service team is also genuinely helpful if you're unsure — drop them a message and they'll often advise on specific styles.
Best High Street Alternatives to Rixo
Rixo is a treat — but at £150 to £400 a dress, it's not an everyday spend. Here are the high street and premium brands I'd steer clients towards when they want that same print-led, feminine energy at a range of price points:
Anthropologie — My top pick for the Rixo lover on a budget. The print and silhouette language is incredibly similar, and the quality-to-price ratio is genuinely excellent. Sizing is US-based but the fit is usually spot on.
Monsoon — Incredibly underrated for print dresses. The florals are bold, the fabrics are lovely, and sizing tends to be generous — great news if Rixo runs tight for you.
Phase Eight — Brilliant for occasion dressing with a similar feminine sensibility. Their midi dresses photograph beautifully and tend to be very well cut through the waist.
Whistles — A more understated take on feminine dressing. Exceptional quality for the price, and their sizing is consistently accurate.
Oasis — Great for florals and printed midi styles at a very accessible price point. A solid option if you want the Rixo vibe for a one-off event without the investment.
Jigsaw — Think refined, quality prints and considered silhouettes. Slightly more classic than Rixo but a brilliant option for the workplace or smart-casual occasions.
Me&Em — My secret weapon for print dresses that feel luxurious without the designer price. British brand, excellent sizing, and the fabrics genuinely punch above their weight.
Ted Baker — For florals and feminine occasion dressing, Ted Baker is a perennial favourite. Their midi lengths are particularly flattering and the fit is usually generous enough for curves.
Premium alternatives:
Reformation — Sustainable, utterly beautiful print silhouettes. A dream if you love Rixo's feminine energy with a slightly more minimalist edge.
ba&sh — French feminine dressing at its finest. The print dresses are effortless and the sizing tends to be true to European standard.
Luxury / designer alternatives:
Erdem — If Rixo is your starter drug, Erdem is the next level. London-based, floral-obsessed, and breathtakingly made.
Zimmermann — Australian luxury with the same print-led, feminine spirit as Rixo but elevated. Exquisite for special occasions.
Independent picks you might not know:
Aspiga — A brilliant British sustainable brand producing gorgeous printed midi and maxi dresses. Ethical, independent, and the quality is seriously impressive for the price point. Very much in the Rixo spirit.
Ghost London — A heritage British brand that pioneered fluid, vintage-inspired silk-feel dressing long before Rixo existed. Their bias-cut styles are incredibly flattering and the prints are consistently beautiful. Underrated and worth every penny.
