What is Sizing Like at Sandro?

Sandro runs in standard French/European sizing, which typically comes up slightly smaller than UK sizing — as a general rule, most UK women will want to go up one size from their usual UK size when shopping at Sandro. So if you're a UK 10, reach for the FR/EU 38.
I've been a Sandro convert for years. There's something about that brand that just gets French-girl dressing right — the perfectly draped blouses, the tailored blazers that look expensive without trying too hard. But the first time I shopped there, I came home with a gorgeous tweed jacket that I couldn't get past my shoulders. Lesson firmly learned: check the sizing before you fall in love with the piece.
Sandro Size Conversion Table
Sandro uses French (FR) sizing, which aligns with standard EU sizing. Here's how it maps across to UK and US sizes:

Sandro doesn't run a particularly wide size range — their standard line goes from FR 34 to FR 42. If you fall between sizes, always size up.
How Sandro Sizing Works Across Different Categories
Like most French brands, how Sandro fits really depends on what you're buying. The brand has a fairly consistent house cut, but garment type makes a real difference. Here's what I've found (sometimes the hard way):
Tops & Blouses
Generally run true to French size — so size up one from your UK size.
Sandro's signature blouses often feature relaxed, slightly oversized cuts. If you prefer a more fitted look, you can sometimes stick with your usual FR equivalent.
Silky, fluid blouses tend to have more give; structured shirts are cut closer to the body.
If you're broader across the shoulders, definitely size up — Sandro's shoulder line sits quite narrow, very Parisian in cut.
Dresses
Midi and maxi dresses tend to run true to French size with a relaxed feminine silhouette.
Bodycon and fitted mini dresses can run one size small — I'd always try before you buy on these, or measure carefully.
Wrap-style dresses are forgiving and adjustable — often one of the easier styles for sizing between sizes.
Sandro's occasion dresses are beautifully cut but tailored quite close to the waist. If you carry weight on your hips, go by your hip measurement rather than your waist.
Knitwear
Sandro knitwear can run slightly small — their jumpers and cardigans have a neat, close-to-the-body silhouette.
If you like an oversized or relaxed fit in knitwear, size up two from your usual UK size.
The fabric quality is excellent, but it doesn't have much stretch, so don't bank on it giving at the seams.
Trousers & Jeans

Trousers follow the standard French sizing — size up one from UK.
The leg cut is typically slim-to-straight, and Sandro tends to cut for a narrower hip. If you're curvy, you may need to size up and take in the waist.
Their jeans have a small amount of stretch but are not especially forgiving — stick to measurements over guesswork here.
Jackets & Coats
This is where I got it wrong (see: the tweed jacket incident). Sandro's tailored outerwear is cut narrow in the shoulders and chest.
For structured blazers and fitted coats, size up one to two sizes from your UK size, especially if you plan to layer underneath.
Bouclé and tweed jackets in particular run small — they are structured and unforgiving. Always try these on if you can.
My Sandro Sizing Tips at a Glance
Always check whether you're buying Sandro Paris (their mainline) or Sandro Maje (their diffusion line) — sizing can differ slightly.
When shopping online, use your bust and hip measurements against their size guide rather than relying on your UK size alone.
Sandro's returns policy is reasonable, so don't be afraid to order two sizes and send back the one that doesn't work.
If you're petite (under 5'4"), many Sandro pieces will work beautifully — the brand designs for a shorter, slimmer French frame.
For anyone taller than 5'8", the midi lengths may hit mid-calf rather than true midi — something to factor in on dresses and skirts.
Brands Similar to Sandro — High Street & Beyond
Sandro sits in that lovely sweet spot between high street and designer — quality fabrics, considered cuts, and that elusive Parisian ease. If you love the aesthetic but want a broader size range, different price point, or just more options, here's where I'd point you:
High Street Picks
These are the brands I genuinely reach for when I want Sandro-adjacent style at a more accessible price:
Cos — The closest thing to Sandro on the high street in terms of minimal, considered design. Excellent tailoring, wide size range, and a very similar aesthetic sensibility. The quality holds up surprisingly well too.
Whistles — A perennial favourite for polished, understated dressing. Their blouses and tailoring have a real grown-up elegance that echoes Sandro's more classic pieces.
Jigsaw — Beautiful fabrics and clean silhouettes. Jigsaw has a slightly more relaxed fit than Sandro, which is handy if you find French sizing restrictive.
Massimo Dutti — For quality that punches well above its price tag. Their tailoring, knitwear and outerwear are genuinely excellent — very Sandro in feel without the Sandro price point.
Mango — Consistently strong at delivering French-inspired pieces at accessible prices. Their annual bouclé jacket drops in particular are very Sandro-coded.
Me&Em — A brilliant British contemporary brand that nails effortless, quality dressing. Their sizing runs slightly more generously than Sandro, which a lot of women appreciate.
Reiss — For when you want Sandro's polish in a British context. Reiss's occasion dresses and structured blazers are particular stand-outs.
Anthropologie — Great for Sandro's more romantic, textural pieces. The brand has a wonderful eye for interesting fabrics and feminine details.
Premium Alternatives
Claudie Pierlot — Sandro's closest contemporary and equally French in DNA. Almost identical price point and aesthetic — if you love one, you'll love the other. A must-explore.
Ted Baker — For occasion dressing and florals with real design flair. A step up from the high street in terms of fabric quality and cut.
Independent & Niche Picks
I always try to include a couple of off-the-beaten-track brands in every post because honestly, some of the most beautiful clothes I own came from places most people have never heard of:
Réalisation Par — An Australian indie label with a very Parisian-Sandro aesthetic. Their silk slip dresses and feminine prints are genuinely stunning. Sizing is XS–XL and runs small (very French), so treat it exactly as you would Sandro.
Kitri Studio — A London-based independent brand doing beautiful, considered pieces at a mid-market price. Their tailoring and dresses have a very similar feel to Sandro — elegant without being fussy, and with a refreshingly inclusive size range.
