What Is Sizing Like at Simone Rocha?

Simone Rocha runs true to size in UK sizing, but if you're between sizes or have a fuller bust, I'd strongly recommend sizing up — particularly in her dresses and blouses, where the structured bodice and fitted cut can leave very little room for manoeuvre. I've made that mistake myself (more on that below).

Simone Rocha is one of those labels that genuinely stops people in the street. The Irish designer — now a cornerstone of the London fashion scene — is known for her exquisitely romantic pieces: sculptural tulle hems, intricate broderie anglaise, pearl-beaded details, and florals that feel genuinely considered rather than commercial. It's grown-up, feminine dressing at its most artful. But as stunning as her collections are, sizing is not always straightforward, and given the price point, getting it wrong is a very expensive lesson.

I ordered a Simone Rocha brocade dress a couple of seasons back in my usual UK 10 — the fit across the hips was perfect, but the bodice was absolutely unforgiving. I was half a size too full in the bust and the boning didn't budge. So when I say: know your measurements before you order, I really mean it.

How Simone Rocha Sizing Works

Simone Rocha uses standard UK sizing across her ready-to-wear collections, ranging approximately from UK 6 to UK 16, though availability varies by style and season. Here's what you need to know garment by garment:

  • Dresses: These are the pieces where sizing matters most. The brand's signature structured dresses — think corseted bodices, layered tulle skirts — run true to size on the hips but can feel tight across the bust and ribcage. If you're a larger cup size, go up one. Wrap and shirt-dress silhouettes in the collection are more forgiving.

  • Blouses & Tops: These tend to be cut quite close to the body. Sizes run true, but there's minimal ease built in — for those who prefer a looser fit or wear above a C cup, sizing up is wise.

  • Knitwear: Slightly more generous than the tailored pieces. True to size, and some styles offer a relaxed, oversized drape that makes them easier to size into rather than down.

  • Coats & Jackets: Beautifully constructed and generally true to size, with enough structure to sit well even over layers. No need to size up unless you have particularly broad shoulders.

  • Trousers & Skirts: Generally true to size, with waistbands that occasionally run slightly firm. If in doubt on skirts with elasticated waists, you'll be fine at your usual size.

My Top Tips for Buying Simone Rocha

  • Measure your bust accurately. This is the number one thing. Simone Rocha's tailored pieces are cut with precision — and that precision doesn't leave room for guesswork.

  • Check the fabric content. Her embellished and structured styles have no stretch whatsoever. Her knit and jersey pieces are more accommodating.

  • Shop via Net-a-Porter or Matches. Both stock her collection with detailed size guides and offer returns policies that make the sizing process much less stressful.

  • Consider the dress length. If you're petite (under 5'4"), her midi dresses can hit closer to ankle length and her minis will fall to the knee. Worth factoring in before you buy.

Where to Get the Simone Rocha Look for Less

At £400–£2,000+ per piece, Simone Rocha is unquestionably a treat — a birthday gift, a special-occasion splurge, or a carefully saved-for wardrobe investment. But if you're drawn to that romantic, feminine aesthetic without the price tag, there are some genuinely brilliant alternatives worth knowing.

High Street Picks

  • Anthropologie — Consistently excellent for romantic, embroidered and floral pieces that have a real artisan feel. Their broderie and tiered dresses are especially good.

  • Phase Eight — Brilliant for occasion wear with feminine construction. Their structured midi dresses and floral prints are well cut and great value.

  • Monsoon — Underrated. The embellishment work, the florals, the tulle — it's a go-to for Simone Rocha-adjacent dressing at a fraction of the price.

  • Whistles — Elevated, minimal-romantic pieces that won't cost a fortune. Their blouses and tailored feminine dresses are consistently well made.

  • Coast — Occasion-focused and surprisingly sophisticated. Look to their occasion dresses and embellished tops for something that borrows from the same romantic language as Rocha.

  • Ted Baker — Strong on floral prints, bow details, and feminine silhouettes with a premium feel. Their party and occasion dresses in particular do the job beautifully.

  • Oliver Bonas — Wonderful for the smaller details: pearl accessories, feminine blouses, floral midi dresses. Not direct competition, but a lovely way to style into the look affordably.

Premium Picks

  • Reiss — For those wanting better fabric quality and sharper construction without tipping into designer pricing. Their structured dresses and occasion pieces are excellent.

  • Me&Em — A genuinely reliable premium brand for beautifully made, grown-up feminine dressing. Their fabric quality punches well above the price point.

Independent & Left-Field Picks

  • Saloni — A London-based label that genuinely deserves more attention. Their bias-cut, printed silk dresses have that same romantic, feminine energy as Simone Rocha but at a more accessible designer price point. Beloved by stylists, trusted by Vogue. Truly worth bookmarking.

  • Bernadette — A Belgian label specialising in joyfully oversized ruffle and bow detailing on silk blouses and dresses. Think Simone Rocha's playfulness without the boning and structure. Utterly delightful and less known than it deserves to be.
