What Is Sizing Like at Skin?

Skin fits true to size, so in the vast majority of cases the size you wear elsewhere is the size to order. It's a luxury loungewear and intimates label built almost entirely around 100% organic Pima cotton, and the cut is generous, soft and forgiving rather than restrictive. If you're hovering between two sizes, the brand's own advice (and mine) is to take the larger one for a looser, drapier feel — but you very rarely need to. Below I'll walk you through exactly how it fits, where the little quirks are, and who I'd send to it.

So, does Skin run true to size?

Yes — and refreshingly so for a brand in this space. Skin uses lettered sizing (XS through L on most styles, with some pieces sized 0–3), and the measurements are honest. I've fitted a lot of clients into loungewear over the years, and the brands that lie about their sizing always show up the same way: a customer orders their "usual" and ends up swimming in it or unable to breathe. Skin doesn't play that game.

A few things worth knowing before you order:

Standard separates (the Skinny Pant, lounge tops, joggers) fit true to size with a slim-but-comfortable line. Size up one if you want that slouchy, sit-on-the-sofa-all-Sunday fit.
The bias-cut slips (the Sexy Slip is the hero piece) are cut on the diagonal so the fabric moulds to the body. You can genuinely wear one or two sizes here depending on whether you want it draped and skimming or close and clingy.
Pima cotton softens, it doesn't sag. It relaxes a touch with wear and washing but holds its shape — so don't over-think it and size down hoping for shrinkage.
Raw-edge hems on some pants (like the cult Double Layer Pant) are designed to be cut to your own length, so don't panic if the leg looks long out of the bag — that's the point.

A stylist's honest take on the fit

I'll be honest: my first real loungewear lesson came from getting it wrong. Years ago I bought a "luxury" silk slip a size down because I convinced myself it would look more elegant snug — and spent an entire weekend feeling like a sausage in a casing. The win came later, when I learned that with bias-cut and natural-fibre pieces, the magic is in letting the fabric do the work. Skin is exactly that kind of brand. The cotton is breathable and hypoallergenic, so it's a genuine dream for sensitive skin, and the cut assumes you want to actually move in it.

My styling steer: treat Skin as elevated basics rather than pyjamas. A slip dress worn under a chunky knit or an oversized blazer takes it straight out of the bedroom and onto the street, and the lounge pants look surprisingly polished with a slingback and a crisp shirt. Order your normal size, and only size up if "barely-there and slouchy" is the brief.

The White Company — the gold standard for luxe-feeling loungewear and nightwear; impeccable soft cottons and a fit that's elegant without being tight.
Mint Velvet — elevated, drapey loungewear and slips that bridge home and out-out beautifully.
Toast — natural fibres, considered cuts and a relaxed, artful fit for anyone who wants their loungewear to look quietly expensive.

Luxury / designer

Brora — for when you want to graduate to cashmere; their loungewear is investment-level soft and famously long-lasting.
