What Is Sizing Like at The Couture Club?

The Couture Club runs true to UK size on their relaxed pieces — hoodies, tracksuits, oversized tees — but their cropped, bodycon and going-out styles run notably snug, so I'd size up by one on anything fitted, particularly the ribbed sets, second-skin dresses, and corset tops. It's a brand I've styled clients in countless times for festival weekends, off-duty wardrobes and that elusive "I've made an effort but I'm still comfortable" night-out look, and the sizing pattern is consistent once you know what to look for.

The Couture Club was founded in Manchester in 2015 and has carved out a really specific lane in UK streetwear — somewhere between the elevated logo-athleisure of Calvin Klein and the bolder, going-out energy of brands like PrettyLittleThing, but with noticeably better fabric quality than the fast-fashion end. Their women's line in particular has expanded massively over the past couple of years, and the sizing logic varies meaningfully depending on which category you're shopping in.

Where Sizing Runs True (and Where It Doesn't)

Here's the honest breakdown by category, in the order most clients ask me about them:

  • Hoodies, sweatshirts & oversized tees — Genuinely true to UK size and often a touch generous. If you usually wear a UK 10, a size S will fit comfortably with that intentional slouch through the body and arms. No need to size up unless you want it really roomy.

  • Tracksuit sets & joggers — Bottoms run true. The waistband is forgiving and the leg has a relaxed, slightly tapered cut. Petites — be warned, the inseam runs long (a recurring theme with The Couture Club, more on that below).

  • Ribbed sets & bodycon dresses — This is where you absolutely need to size up. The ribbing has very little give and the cuts are designed to cling. I'd routinely recommend going up one size for a comfortable, flattering fit rather than a painted-on one.

  • Corset tops & structured going-out pieces — Size up. The boning in the corset styles is rigid and the measurements are unforgiving across the bust and waist.

  • Cropped tees & baby tees — Snug across the chest. If you're a UK 10 with a fuller bust, go for the 12.

  • Outerwear & puffer jackets — Generous and roomy, true to size or a touch large. Don't size up here unless you want significant layering room.

My Honest Couture Club Sizing Mishap

A few summers back I ordered a black ribbed mini for a client's birthday weekend in Lisbon — looked stunning on the model, fabric was beautiful, and I took it in my usual size assuming the cling would be flattering. It arrived, I tried it on for fit-check purposes, and I genuinely could not pull it past my hip bone. Not "a bit tight". Not "this'll be fine after a glass of wine". Stuck. We exchanged for the size up, it arrived two days before the flight, and it fit exactly as the size-down should have looked. Lesson absolutely learned, and now whenever a client asks about Couture Club bodycon, I tell them the same thing: size up. Every. Single. Time.

Body Shape Advice

  • Hourglass & pear shapes — Their bodycon and ribbed pieces are made for you, but size up so the fabric works with your hips rather than fighting them. The corset tops are genuinely brilliant for cinching the waist.

  • Athletic & straight figures — Their tracksuits and oversized tees give the illusion of softer curves, especially with the cinched waists on their fitted joggers.

  • Apple shapes — Steer away from the ribbed sets unless you go up two sizes; instead lean into the slouchier hoodies and longline tees which skim rather than cling.

  • Petite (5'4" and under) — The trouser inseams are long. Factor in a tailor's bill or stick to cropped styles. The hoodies, oversized tees and dresses will be longer than expected — sometimes a happy accident, sometimes not.

  • Tall (5'9" and over) — Finally, a brand where the joggers might actually reach your ankles. Their trousers are a rare petite-friendly-but-actually-tall-friendly product.

High Street Brands to Shop Alongside The Couture Club

If The Couture Club's elevated streetwear vibe is what you're after, these are the high street names I'd cross-shop with for variety, sizing reliability, and similar style energy:

  • Superdry — The closest high street equivalent for casual streetwear with proper fabric quality. Their hoodies and sweat sets sit in the same wardrobe lane and the sizing is consistently true to UK standard.

  • Urban Outfitters — Brilliant for cropped tees, baby tees and that Y2K-inflected going-out energy. Sizing skews American but tends to run true once you've adjusted.

  • Hollister — Underrated for the relaxed-fit hoodies and joggers crowd. Their fits run slightly slim through the body, so factor that in if you're between sizes.

  • Abercrombie & Fitch — Their Essentials line is arguably the best mid-market answer to The Couture Club's elevated basics. Sizing is now much more UK-friendly than the brand's old reputation suggests.

  • River Island — The go-to high street name for bodycon dresses and going-out separates. Sizing is reliably true to UK standard, which makes it a useful baseline when you're navigating Couture Club's snugger cuts.

  • Calvin Klein — For the minimalist logo-athleisure aesthetic. Sizing is European-aligned and tends to be one of the most consistent on the high street.

  • Tommy Hilfiger — Classic Americana sportswear with reliable sizing. Their tracksuit sets and logo tees are an investment-level alternative to The Couture Club's casual line.

Premium Options Worth the Extra Spend

Post Image

  • Hugo Boss — Their athleisure and logo-driven casual line is the natural step up from The Couture Club for someone wanting better fabric quality and tailoring without crossing into designer prices.

  • AllSaints — Brilliant for the moody, edgier streetwear wardrobe. Their leather, denim, and graphic-tee crossover is exactly the aesthetic Couture Club shoppers tend to gravitate towards as they age into investment dressing.

Luxury & Designer Picks

  • Palm Angels — Italian luxury streetwear with the same logo-forward DNA as The Couture Club, just at a wildly different price point. Sizing runs European and is generally slim.

  • Off-White — The blueprint for elevated streetwear globally. Investment-level, but the construction and longevity genuinely justify the spend for a wardrobe staple.

My Two Independent Brand Picks

The two indie names I'd flag for anyone who loves The Couture Club's vibe but wants something a bit more under-the-radar:

  • Bee Inspired — Another Manchester-born streetwear label (much like The Couture Club itself) but with a slightly grown-up, premium-leaning aesthetic. Their tracksuits and tees are cut with more length in the body, the fabric weights are noticeably heavier, and the sizing is consistently true to UK standard — a refreshing change after navigating Couture Club's snug bodycon range.

  • Hera London — A genuinely cool women-focused British streetwear brand with a strong identity in co-ords, loungewear and elevated casual pieces. Sizing runs true and the quality punches well above its price point. If you want streetwear that doesn't shout a logo, this is where I'd start.
