What Is Sizing Like at Trove?

By Robin BlakeSizing Expert Stylist & Founder of TellarDate: 2026

Always Honest, Unbiased, Unsponsored & Free Content.

Trove sizes generously and runs true to size with a relaxed, easy cut – so if you like your loungewear and athleisure to skim rather than cling, your usual size will be spot on. The brand even tells you as much in its own fit notes: size up for a slouchier feel, or down if you want something more fitted. After years of dressing clients in everything from boardroom tailoring to Sunday-on-the-sofa knits, I can tell you that’s a refreshingly honest place to start, because Trove is built around comfort first and structure second.

Let me walk you through exactly how it fits, who it suits, and where to shop if Trove isn’t quite hitting the mark for you.

How Trove Fits, in Plain English

Trove lives in the loungewear, athleisure and easy-separates world – think soft sets, joggers, sweatshirts and jersey pieces designed to move with you. That category always fits a little differently to woven tailoring, and there are a few things worth knowing before you add to basket:

  • The cut is relaxed, not oversized. Most pieces have a comfortable, body-skimming shape rather than a tight one. If you’re between two sizes, your smaller size will give a neater line.

  • Stretch does the heavy lifting. Jersey and soft-knit fabrics are forgiving, so they accommodate a range of shapes within a single size. That’s lovely for comfort, but it does mean structure is minimal – don’t expect a piece to “hold you in”.

  • Sets can fit you across two sizes. I see this constantly with co-ords: if your top and bottom halves differ, buy each piece to its own measurement rather than forcing one number.

  • Length runs long on bottoms. Joggers and lounge trousers often have a generous inseam – petite frames may want to check the leg measurement or plan for a small turn-up.

My honest steer: measure your bust, waist and hips once, compare them to the brand’s own chart, and size to your largest measurement. With soft, stretchy fabrics it’s far easier to take in a slightly roomy lounge set than to live in something that digs.

Styling Trove Like a Stylist Would

The trap with loungewear is that it can tip into “I’ve given up” territory. I learned this the hard way years ago when I wore a matching grey sweat set to a school pick-up and a parent kindly asked if I was “feeling poorly”. Reader, I was not. I’ve since built a rule: one elevated piece rescues any relaxed outfit.

  • Half-tuck a relaxed tee into the waistband of joggers to create a waistline and stop the silhouette reading as shapeless.

  • Add a structured layer – a denim jacket, a blazer, a longline coat – over soft separates so there’s contrast between fluid and firm.

  • Swap trainers for a loafer or ankle boot and the exact same lounge set instantly looks deliberate.

  • Stick to a tight colour story. Tonal dressing (one shade, head to toe) makes inexpensive lounge pieces look considerably more expensive.

Where Else to Shop for This Look

If you love the Trove vibe but want to compare fit, fabric or price point, these are the brands I’d send my own clients to – chosen specifically for soft separates, athleisure and elevated loungewear.

High Street

  • Sweaty Betty – British activewear with brilliantly considered, supportive fits; their sculpting leggings are a genuine cut above.

  • Lululemon – the gold standard for technical fit and longevity; sizing runs neat, so don’t be shy about sizing up if you prefer ease.

  • Alo Yoga – elevated, fashion-led athleisure that wears as easily off the mat as on it.

  • Marks & Spencer – their Goodmove and cotton-rich lounge ranges are superb value and reliably true to size.

  • Uniqlo – unbeatable soft basics and lounge sets; the fabrics punch well above their price.

  • The White Company – beautifully relaxed, premium-feeling loungewear in a calm, neutral palette.

  • Hush – the queen of British slouchy-but-chic separates, made for exactly this kind of easy dressing.

  • Seasalt Cornwall – soft organic cottons with a gentle, generous fit that suits anyone who likes room to breathe.

Premium

  • Me&Em – clever, considered design and flattering cuts; their jersey pieces feel quietly luxurious.

  • Mint Velvet – relaxed-luxe separates that nail the line between comfortable and polished.

  • Toast – understated, fabric-led pieces with a slow-fashion sensibility and a beautifully easy fit.

Luxury & Designer

  • Max Mara – for investment knit and leisure pieces with that unmistakable Italian polish.

  • Totême – minimalist, architectural separates for anyone who wants elevated ease without logos.

  • By Malene Birger – Scandi cool with a relaxed silhouette and gorgeous fabrications.

Two Independents Worth Knowing

  • Asquith London – a sustainable, family-run British label making bamboo and organic-cotton yoga and loungewear that drapes beautifully and lasts.

  • Stripe & Stare – a brilliant small British brand doing supremely soft loungewear and lounge sets from sustainable fibres; a real under-the-radar favourite of mine.

The Bottom Line

Post Image

Trove is a low-risk brand to buy from sizing-wise: order your usual size for a relaxed fit, size down for something neater, and buy co-ord halves separately if your proportions differ. Pair it with one structured piece and you’ll look pulled-together rather than… under the weather. Take it from someone who once got asked if she was poorly.
