What Is Sizing Like at Weekday?

Weekday sizing runs largely true to European measurements, but the cut is deliberately roomy – meaning almost everything you order will feel a touch larger than you might expect, especially tops, jumpers and outerwear. That's not a flaw; it's the entire point of the brand. Weekday is a Stockholm-born label (part of the H&M Group) built on that uniform Scandinavian DNA – baggy, slouchy, slightly androgynous – so if you size down to chase your usual fit, you'll often kill the silhouette they actually designed.
I learned this the hard way. The first time I ordered Weekday – the Rowe Extra High Straight jean in my standard waist – I assumed they'd fit like Levi's. They were enormous. I returned them, ordered a size smaller, and they were still relaxed. That's just how the brand is engineered. Once I stopped fighting it, I genuinely started enjoying the way the pieces sat.
The Weekday fit philosophy
Before we get into specifics, a quick mental adjustment: Weekday doesn't really do "fitted." Their entire aesthetic is built around proportion play – a wide leg with a fitted vest, a giant tee tucked into low-rise denim, an oversized blazer over something delicate. So the sizing reflects that.
A few things to keep in mind when you shop:
EU sizing is the default, with UK and US conversions on the site.
Tops generally come in XS to XL, with a noticeably relaxed cut even at XS.
Denim is sold in waist inches × leg length (e.g. W26 L32), which I genuinely prefer – far less guesswork.
Fabric varies massively across the range – rigid cotton denim behaves nothing like their viscose pieces, so check the composition before committing to a size.
Tops, tees and knitwear
This is where most people get caught out. A Weekday tee in size S is closer to a regular M or even L elsewhere. Their jersey tops are intentionally boxy and cropped-but-wide, designed to be tucked or layered. If you want that proper streetwear-y silhouette, take your usual size. If you genuinely want fitted, size down once – but be warned, the shoulder seam will still sit dropped, because the pattern is cut that way.
Knitwear is similar but with even more give. Their chunky knits in particular are roomy through the body and long in the sleeve. I'm 5'7" and the sleeves on a size S jumper still drape past my wrists – which I happen to love, but it's worth knowing.
Denim – the bit that matters most
Weekday's denim is the strongest part of the offer, and honestly some of the best-value rigid denim on the high street. Each style has a name and a very specific fit, and they're consistent across drops.
Rowe – extra high waist, straight leg. Sits exactly where it claims to. True to waist measurement.
Pin – high waist, slim, slight stretch. The most forgiving if you're between sizes.
Voyage – mid-rise, loose tapered. Sizes up at the hip; I'd take my exact waist measurement here.
Way – high waist, baggy through the leg. Statement piece. Order your true waist; the volume is in the design, not the sizing.
My honest stylist advice: measure your natural waist with a tape, sit down, and order to that number. Don't go off the size you wear in stretch denim, because Weekday's rigid styles will be a full size bigger if you do.
Dresses, skirts and outerwear

Dresses come up generously, particularly through the bust and shoulder. If you're busty, you'll likely find the fit kind – I rarely have to size up here, which isn't something I can say for a lot of Scandi brands. Skirts run true on the waist but often longer in length than expected.
Outerwear is where Weekday really leans into oversized. Their coats and bombers are cut with proper room for layering, so unless you specifically want a cocoon silhouette over heavy knits, I'd take your usual size and no more.
Where Weekday sits next to other brands
If you love Weekday's aesthetic but the fit isn't quite working for you, here's where I'd point you in the high street, premium and luxury spaces.
High street alternatives
COS – the closest sibling stylistically, with a slightly more grown-up, less streetwear-leaning cut. Sizing is cleaner and more predictable.
Mango – stronger on tailored basics and trend-led pieces; sizing runs true to UK.
Massimo Dutti – elevated essentials with sharper tailoring and notably better fabric.
Levi – the obvious denim swap if Weekday's volume isn't for you. Their 501 and Ribcage styles cover similar ground.
Urban Outfitters – overlaps heavily with Weekday's younger streetwear customer; sizing runs slightly larger.
Topshop – back in the game and very strong on denim, particularly the Jamie and Editor styles.
Reiss – a step up in price and polish, great for tailoring if you've outgrown the slouch.
Premium picks
Citizens of Humanity – exceptional rigid denim that sits in the same wide-leg, high-rise space as Rowe and Way, but in a far more refined fabric.
Paige – more polished, body-conscious denim if you want fit you can rely on year after year.
Luxury / designer
Acne Studios – the spiritual older sister of Weekday. Same Stockholm sensibility, properly elevated. If you adore Weekday's mood, this is the upgrade.
Toteme – minimalist, beautifully cut, restrained palette. Perfect if you're moving from slouchy student-coded Weekday into something quieter and more grown-up.
Two independents worth knowing
Hope Stockholm – Swedish, architectural, and the closest independent match to Weekday's design ethos in a more sophisticated frame.
House of Sunny – East London, playful and sculptural, brilliant for adding a bit of personality to the Scandi neutrals.
My final word
Don't fight the fit. Weekday is designed to drape, slouch and overlap, and once you stop trying to make it behave like a more fitted brand, the pieces start working beautifully. Measure once, lean into the silhouette, and you'll find the value is genuinely excellent.
