What Is Sizing Like at Weekday Menswear?

Weekday is broadly true to size, so your usual size will get you the fit the designers intended. The real trick with this brand is that your size depends entirely on the cut, and Weekday tells you the cut right there in the product name. A tee labelled "standard" fits like a normal tee. A jean labelled "loose" or "baggy" is meant to swamp you. So the honest, one-line answer is this: true to size on the label, but read the name before you look at the tag.

The denim is the main event

Denim is Weekday's calling card, and it's where fit gets a little more involved. Jeans are sold in waist and length in inches, so a W32 L32 means exactly that. The named fits do most of the talking:

  • Slim and regular cuts sit close to your true waist size. Take your normal number and you're sorted.

  • Loose and baggy models (think Astro, Ample, Space) are cut deliberately roomy. Don't size down hoping to tame them, because the volume is the design.

  • Stretch matters. Pairs with a bit of elastane feel snug out of the bag then relax roughly half a size within an hour. Rigid or raw denim stays put, so buy those true and let them break in around you.

A confession: I once sized down on a pair of Astro baggies thinking I'd rein in the volume. By lunchtime I couldn't do the button up, and the leg was still enormous. Lesson learned. With Weekday's loose cuts, trust the label and take your true size.

Tops, tees and sweats

This is the easy bit. Weekday's standard tees and sweatshirts run true and clean, so take your normal size and you'll be happy. The oversized and boxy styles are always flagged in the name, so a "standard" medium and an "oversized" medium are two very different garments. A standard tee lands around a 114cm chest on a medium, which is a proper, wearable regular fit rather than anything skin-tight.

One of my longest-serving tees is a standard heavyweight Weekday number in my true medium. Three years of washing and it still holds its shape, which tells you the basics are worth the money.

Outerwear and overshirts

Jackets and overshirts are cut with a touch of room for layering, which is exactly what you want from this category. My rule:

  • Planning to wear a knit underneath? Size up if you're on the fence.

  • Wearing it as a shirt-jacket over just a tee? Your true size is spot on.

Quick rules to get it right first time

Post Image

  • Read the fit word in the product name before anything else.

  • Denim: true size for slim and regular; true size (never down) for loose and baggy.

  • Rigid denim: buy true and expect a little give.

  • Tops: true size for standard; the size intent lives in the name.

  • Between sizes? Size up for layering pieces, stay true for fitted ones.

Where else to shop if you love the Weekday look

If Weekday's minimalist, denim-led aesthetic is your thing, here's where I'd send you next, split by budget.

High street

  • COS — the same elevated-minimalist DNA with slightly cleaner tailoring. Sizing is reliable and the trousers are excellent.

  • Arket — Scandi basics and honest denim that sits true, plus some of the best mid-weight tees on the high street.

  • Uniqlo — my benchmark for consistent, genuinely true-to-size basics, and unbeatable value for money.

Independent and boutique

  • Nudie Jeans — a Swedish denim specialist with organic cotton and free repairs for life. The natural upgrade if Weekday got you into denim.

  • ASKET — a Swedish permanent collection with precise, published measurements and no seasonal churn. Brilliant if you like knowing exactly what you're getting.

  • Wax London — a British label doing textured overshirts and knits with real character, for when you want a bit more personality in the mix.

Designer and luxury

  • Acne Studios — the premium Scandi denim step-up. The fit language will feel instantly familiar coming from Weekday.

  • A.P.C. — French raw selvedge that ages beautifully. Buy it true and let it fade into shape around you.

  • Officine Générale — elevated French basics for when you want that Weekday simplicity in noticeably better cloth.
