What's Sizing Like at Saint Tropez?

Saint Tropez generally runs true to size, but with a relaxed, Scandinavian cut — which means tops, dresses and knits tend to feel a touch roomier than you'd expect, while trousers and tailored jackets can come up slightly snug across the waist and shoulders. If you usually wear a UK 12, your everyday Saint Tropez size will most often be a Medium — but this is a brand that loves fluid, oversized silhouettes, so the “right” size depends far more on the style than the label.

I've styled enough Danish-brand wardrobes to know that Scandi sizing is its own little language, and Saint Tropez is a textbook example. Here's exactly how it fits, where it catches people out, and how to nail your size first time.

The short answer

Saint Tropez uses XS–XXL sizing (sometimes with split sizes like XS/S or S/M), and broadly speaking:

XS sits around a UK 6
S around a UK 8–10
M around a UK 10–12
L around a UK 14
XL around a UK 16

But here's the bit that trips people up: those bands stretch and shift depending on the cut. A floaty smock dress in a Medium will swallow a UK 12 happily; a ponte pencil skirt in the very same Medium will feel properly fitted.

What I've learned (the hard way)

My first-ever Saint Tropez buy was a printed chiffon blouse, and I did exactly what I tell my clients never to do — I sized down because I wanted it “neat”. Big mistake. The cut is designed to drape, and in a Small it pulled across the bust and lost all its lovely movement. The Medium, which I'd written off as too big on the hanger, was the one that actually looked expensive.

The flip side came with a pair of their tailored trousers, where my usual size needed bumping up one. Scandi trousers are cut clean and narrow through the waist, so if you carry a bit more through the hips and thighs (hello, me), give yourself the room. Two pieces from the same brand, two completely different lessons.

Tops, knits and dresses

This is where Saint Tropez shines, and where the relaxed fit is firmly your friend.

Knits and jumpers are deliberately oversized — take your true size for a cosy slouch, or size down one if you want something closer to the body.
Smocks, tiered cotton dresses and chiffon blouses are cut generously. Use your bust measurement as your guide and resist the urge to shrink the silhouette.
Tunic-style tops are happiest at your true size — they're built to skim, not cling.

Trousers, skirts and tailoring

Here's where you flip your thinking entirely.

Ponte and stretch trousers are fitted — true to size usually works, but size up if you're curvier through the hip.
Tailored blazers can be narrow across the shoulders; if you're between sizes, take the larger.
Structured skirts sit closer to the body than the breezy dresses do, so judge them like trousers, not like a smock.

How to pick your size with confidence

Shop the garment, not the label — read the description for words like “relaxed”, “oversized” or “fitted”.
Go by your actual measurements, not your habitual high-street number.
When in doubt: size up on anything fluid, and try your true size first on anything tailored.
