What's the Sizing Like at Marc O'Polo?

Marc O'Polo generally runs true to standard EU sizing, but it's a brand of two halves: the tops and knitwear are cut relaxed through the chest and arms, while the trousers run noticeably small at the waist. In other words, don't assume your top size and your bottom size will match here — for a lot of women, they won't. I've styled a fair bit of Marc O'Polo over the years, and it's a brand I genuinely rate for grown-up, natural-fibre casualwear — that clean Scandinavian-meets-German look of organic cottons, soft linens and easy tailoring. But I'll be honest: the first time I ordered their trousers I went with my usual size, smugly assumed I'd nailed it, and spent an evening doing the lie-down-on-the-bed-to-zip-them dance. They were lovely; they were also a full size too tight at the waist. Lesson learned. Here's everything I now check before I buy.

Tops, T-shirts & knitwear

This is the forgiving half of the brand. Marc O'Polo tops are cut true to EU sizing but sit slightly roomy across the bust, shoulders and arms — lovely if you like a relaxed drape, less ideal if you want something neat and close to the body.

Want a tailored look? Size down, especially in their boyfriend and oversized styles, which are genuinely generous.
Knitwear runs soft and a touch long — flattering for layering, but check the body length if you're petite.
The sleeves favour taller frames. If you're under about 5ft 8in, glance at the arm length before you commit, or you'll be doing the permanent push-up-the-cuff thing.

Trousers, jeans & chinos

This is where people come unstuck. Marc O'Polo legwear — and particularly the lower-stretch, woven styles — runs small at the waist. The fit through the hip and leg is usually spot on, but that waistband is the catch.

Measure your actual waist and hips rather than trusting your "usual" number. The two rarely line up the same way twice across denim, chinos and tailored trousers.
Low-stretch and non-stretch fabrics are the snuggest. If you're between sizes, size up — Marc O'Polo's own guidance says exactly this.
Their jeans come in everything from skinny to wide and flared, and the stretch denim is far more accommodating than the rigid styles, so don't be put off entirely.

Dresses & the fabric factor

With dresses, the fabric does the talking. Jersey and knit styles are soft, stretchy and forgiving, so your standard size will usually be right. Woven and structured dresses are the ones to watch — they can run narrow across the shoulders and bust, so if you're proportionally fuller on top, that's the measurement to check first.

One thing worth saying: the quality here is the real draw. Marc O'Polo leans hard into organic cotton, linen and natural blends, and the cloth genuinely wears well. These are pieces you buy once and keep, which makes getting the size right the first time well worth five minutes of measuring.
